Can anyone tell me a bit about the dreamlink HD?
I see that it is up to version 4 now, any difference than other previous version?
Any known issues? Picture quality for both SD and HD? Any bugs?
Thank you
Btw I am using NFPS

I have a DLHD V1 and a DLHD V2. The V1 has been the best so far. The HD picture out of both boxes is amazing. The only problems I have are the V1 will show bad signal- turn off the box then back on- and the channel is back at 97%. This is frustrating when you channel surf. The V2, even though you pick a different sat to scan in it only ever scans one sat. Other than those two frustrating problems, they are easy to use and have a great picture. Make sure the person you buy it from is reliable.

I just ordered my DL HD unit from Leesatt.
He answers all of your questions, and sends you tracking so I am sure it will get here within the next few days.
Just wondering which software version it will come with.
I take it I will need to load factory file 106, reset, then load bin 119 and reset again to get the sat list populated and ready for scan and PS information.

Post # 4 answers your question on sotfware version.

Let me know how it goes for you.
Do you have your dish with 3 LNBs at 110, 119, and 129?
Where did you purchase your DL HD receiver from?
You probably will get yours before me so I am interested to hear how it works out.

Got mine today and these are the pros and cons
Pros
-Machine is a lot faster and easier to configure (compare to my VS9000 + Xfta)...Took me about 20 minutes
-Very small and quality is not bad for the HD (I personally think that all SD channels are blurry on any receivers)
Cons
The receiver gets very hot when watching on hd channels. I am afraid I will have to buy a cooling fan of some sort.
By the way I am on version4 (anyone know how to check?)

I believe the difference between 2, 3 and 4 is the box it came in..

I am getting mine at some point today. :)
What is your set up like Mike B?
Some say if it runs hot, the module is set wrong. It should only be warm, some have no heat issues.

When you get your DLHD you will enjoy the picture and the support that comes with it. The one thing I recommend is to put a laptop cooling fan underneath it to keep it cool. It runs very hot and can't stay enclosed in a cabinet.

Go with the linkbox 8000hd. Its better than the dl hd for recording. It works well

The word "hot" is rather subjective as each person will have a different feel for what too hot is. It would be interesting to see what a digital thermometer gun would read on different units. My DL gets hotter than I'd normally be comfortable with other electronic equipment, but it's been running fine for 8 months or so with no extra cooling. With that said, I don't have it in an enclosed cabinet or sitting on top of any other devices. The hot area is on the top case right over the hd module, which may a good thing since it seems the unit was designed to use the top case as a heat fin, with a thermal transfer block between the hd module and top case.
This DL is actually a replacement, as the original one I was sent did have a problem with the hd module and would overheat and lose picture in about 5 minutes.
All in all, I think the hd quality is great. I do wish the box would automatically switch from 1080i to 480 when I go to an SD channel.

Issues with the dreamlink recording feature were fixed a while ago..

I've recently purchased one and I love it. My box gets warm not hot compared to my VS 9000 hd which needed a cooling fan. Just make sure you keep it where the heat can escape and not in an enclosed wall unit or TV stand.

I have had mine since it came out and love it. Just make sure you install the HD card correctly.
