yes this is for the ones in Caribbean and South America that needs large dish to get Di$h.
All IKS I know will not provide Eastern Arc services which I heard covers almost all channels (72W) only on 1 dish , And I know most of my Caribbean peeps will not buy 3 large dish to get all 3 western arc sat signals (it is too expensive ) ,

My question is which sat did you point your dish to and why

hope this thread will help others out and let the IKS providers know that there is a big market in caribbean

Thanks/Gracias/Mèsi/Danki/Bedank

Around here those with SD receivers are on 110 and those with HD are on 129. Those with a second dish have it on 125.

A motor set up would work well for those that only want to use one dish. My SG2100 motor works great.

For that you guys need to use like what I have for Jamaica and other islands you need to use two 6ft dish.... you have one that will point o 119/110 and the 2nd will point to 72.. I can post pics of my setup I use for my home in the other island that is to far south to get the 129 and others. with the setup I spoke above you get all the HD and SD as if you where looking at the 119/110/129... you will need to use all DP LNB with a DP44 switch .

Also there are only a hand full iks that offer HD on the 72 sat they offer the SD but I have not seen much doing the full HD packages ... so that's is also to think if you are setting up and the investment is a lot just to get the dish I know in the DR for my home there they wanted like 2500 usd for the two but I had a local guy make it for me with fiber glass as using my buddy's as a template I know I did the same in Jamaica...
hope that helps I have one my kids send me a photo of the 6 ft with the 119/110 I have setup and I get around 85-93% quality with the one dish for the two sats..

129°w using 2.5M offset, 58°w using 90cm offset, 125°w using 1.2M offset. Got rid of 72.7°w due to no support using 1.8M primestar.

as yet not found any one to hit 129 in Jamaica and also in the DR as it is too low from what I have seen, I tried my self once no go.. so have no chose when you are this far south but to go for the 72. works fine on my sub..... so it not just the tester who need this in the south but person that have subs and want full HD

Will that work on a 6 ft. fiberglass offset dish?

Your problem is not being too far south but too far east. We are further south in Honduras and get 129 just fine with a 6 footer. I suggest looking into Claro TV - PR @ 125W. Has a very good American channel lineup since PR is part of the US. Super strong signal all over the Caribbean. Can also be picked up in eastern and gulf US states. Great backup for the ECM blues.

A sg2100 will not drive a 6 footer, especially a fiberglass one.

Yep, didn't think so. I looked into a motor for a 6 footer once and I think it cost more than a couple 6 ft. dishes.

am happy with my setup.. I like my all English programing I understand the Spanish but love my English lol ... :tehe:

we use to get129 till about 3 years back it went dark when the moved to the new one..

I have a home in Cayman and I have yet to hit 129 and also in Jamaica and by looking at the map my home in Cayman is closer to the usa than your location I like if you could say your tilt on you 6 footer as I have two 6 foot there fiber glass channel masters.. and can not get 129....

I be happy to here your tilt

thanks

If by tilt you mean elevation I have it at 44 on the markers on the dish. That may be a little higher than what Dishpointer dot com says but that's because the dish leans a little forward on the pole. Roatan's not far from Cayman and gets 129 as well but not enough signal for 72.7. 72.7 comes in fine all over the mainland. The footprint makes crazy hops out here on the fringe and the only sure way is to try.

Don't think Claro @ 125 is all Spanish. In fact it's mostly all your favorite US channels in English, including the networks from NYC. There's also 8 PBS channels in the clear on that sat, some in HD.

I was thinking of getting Clarotv as a backup for dish they are the only other option left for me to get american channels. the reason iwant dish is for sports and movie.

I'm in DR with a 6 footer pointing to 110/119 and two 100cm dishes, one pointing to 58w and the other one to 50w. As you say, there aren't too much support for 72.7 HD's, neither we have satellite coverage for 129w here in DR, so i get our HD's from PR beam on 110/119.

125 claro is good with a 4 fter in the north east states. I have not been able to grab 50w claro here though. it must be a south beam. satbeams shows it should come in, but whatever. claro is a nice backup.
you folks in the south can get 58w also, must be nice.

110/119w not available here 8.5° north equator, however 129w on a 2.5M dish, 125w claro on 1.2M dish, 58w sky on 90cm dish and 50w claro on 1.2M dish available. I am sure amazonas at 61w is available but do not really need. May try moving 1.2M from 50w (not much great tv for me) to try amazonas at a later date.

We also get 125w here but i don't need it anymore since most or almost all of the channels that it has i have it already with DN/SKY/Claro50w. Like two years ago i was testing Amazonas 61 and got a good stable signal with my 6 footer. Other one that i tested before was DishMex 77 getting very good signal and also got tje signal for 72.7, unfortunately no support for that sat at this time.

You can check them yourself, use the link below, just select the satellite from the list and click on the little green Earth, the footprint is an active one, all you do is to zoom into your location and click on it, this will tell you if your within the footprint for that satellite and how big of a dish you will need to properly receive it.

http://www.satbeams.com/satellites

Here is an example for 125W,
http://www.satbeams.com/footprints?norad=33275 click on the "Caribbean" footprint map in the pink area, then zoom into your location.

actually, do those claro channels on 50 w require a universal LNB?
that maybe why i cant get em?

Yes, a universal or linear LNB is required for both Claro sats.

Anybody in trinidad getting 61.5w, I have a geosat pro 1.2m dish and cannot get 110/119 or 125w, my line of site is blocked from these sats.
