Hey Guys,

I picked up a Viewsat 9000 from ebay, it didn't come with a x-fta dongle... I did some research and found out you can hardwire it to any computer using a simple monitor cord and a program ( still have to attempt, correct me if I am wrong) Does anyone know a good re-sale site for X-fta dongle's, looking for the best price...thanks in advance!

Thanks Steven, From a quick google it looks like the rs232 cable is just a simple monitor cable correct?

xx-client is very simple and uses less resources than wfemu ...no com0com needed or anything.
plug and play program.
the latest release is xx-client 2.3.67..880
and yes null is what you need...9 pin female-female.

everything i have read is xfta router is bad because of full reboot needed when going to dead channel's.
if you can use a null cable and pc without any hassle you will have no problems like the xfta has.
all i'm saying is don't waste your money until you tried what i recommend.
gooogle "the goofather" and you can read everything that i have.
sounds like many happy VS/CNX/coolsat/CW/x-factor peeps out there.

This works like the rq-sssp program, just d/l it to a pc(cheap lappy w/serial port is Gr8), connect stb to pc with serial cable, Start xx-client, turn on stb and You should see tv...! :cheers2: Oooops the last post was over a month ago, Hope OP got off the roof...!

you can use a usb to serial adapter too if you don't have a computer with serial, Athen chip works for sure, you just plug the original cable that came with the receiver in the usb to serial adapter you have to have the driver for the serial cable installed and set the correct port in notepad

Hello
Thanks for all the info, a little help would be appreciated. I have a 9000 hd and a pc with nm cable. The last time my system worked it was with the weather forecaster. I have downloaded xx v 1.14 for my PC, where can I get 2.3.67 etc. Thanks
