I am very familiar with Nova and Phoenix so this should not be all that hard. I already have NOI running on a Nova.

Box arrived yesterday. It is "NEW" as in not used (I know 2010 or something like that). SK900 in separate box. So I am sitting here looking at some pictures how to install. Looks pretty easy. I will do this when I get home from work today. So install the new tuner and put jumper on. I will make my own jumper with good cable and good T&B connectors.

I have ST loader and 27 file all ready to go. Done same thing for Novas and Phoenix many times so I have the cable and know the drill. I know use the ST loader NOT the Nova/Phoenix loader. I should be good to go on that.

Box came with Factory 1.016 already on it. So I assume that I do not need to load a factory. Just load the 27 file and do a couple factory resets?

Next I have the BigSlim NFHD_UPDATE_27F_4-21-13.bin transponder update. That is a bin file. But now with 27 on the box, I should be able to load it from the USB. Is that correct? How this loads? Is there anything special I need to know?

Do I understand this correctly? BigSlim is just the transponders and channel names, so after I check the LNB / switch settings, then scan my channels?

I am somewhat network savvy so I have already made the changes to the nick on my NOI PC. I can do the network stuff on the box myself too. Only way to make sure it is done right.

On the 27 file, does the webloader work? Just a question for now but thinking ahead. This would let me upload and save my channel files.

How about ATSC tuner / EPG? Anything special I need to know for that? I assume PVR works just as well off that tuner?

Can I use a larger USB drive for the PVR for now? I'll buy a 16 or 32GB this week end for PVR.

You can also load the 27 file from the front usb. I prefer to do my own scan rather than use a transponder file.

You can use the usb flash stick or your PC To record. Some use a external Hard Drive also. A One TB but any bigger than that had trouble from what I hear. I use a flash stick n it works very well. you can add all the transponders manually from lynsat if u wish so u have the latest n correct info and also there is a program in the advanced section by dale_para_bajo where u dont have to use a PC any more if you do some reading all the info you need is posted there on that and it is a GREAT Program!!

OK. I can load files from the front USB. I was reading the how2 and it said use the cable and loader program but USB way easier.

For now I will try the BigSlim transponder file. My understanding is that is only the transponders and channel names. I still have to scan all the channels myself. If it scans as well as the Phoenix, this will be a no-brainer.

Thanks for the fast replies.

if you use the 4-21-13 Updated file for 119-110-129....DO NOT SCAN.....all this has been done already in the file with tp's and ch's updated and all the right channel names renamed......just put your correct antenna sat settings and ip info in and start NOI and watch tv.....if you scan you will get many service #'s instead of the ch names plus some of the names will be wrong.....that's the purpose of the file

Actually a fresh scan is not the best thing, some of the old channel names are embedded in the bin (oh I see bigslim says this) , even if you have long channel names turned off. So use the 4-21-13 bin and set your sats, you will also need to set your static IP and gateway to your PC running NOI.

With the HD unit you will need to set the PC running NOI as per the HD instructions, it does not work like the SD 255 bin.

Look her for the NOI how to: http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?126053-Nfusion-HD-Setup-w-Network-Testing-Wizard

I don't use the wizard just do it manually. Hope it helps.

Thank you all for your responses. I did as you said. I loaded 27 off the USB stick and then did full reset. Then loaded bigslim's channel list. Then set my LNBs and network. Including setting up the network port on the PC by hand and installing the tuner the other night, this all took me all of an hour and a half total to be sitting there watching TV. Not bad. Good picture. Great EPG. Very sensitive tuner. I need to replace the weeny jumper cable, but I will do that later some time.

I use the A/V outputs to add a channel to my home TV distribution system. I get some strange results. I set 4:3Pan and I get the left portion of the full screen. ??? The other settings seem to overscan and the picture folds in from the left and right sides. What's with that? Not works the same as my Nova or Phoenix. HDMI works great into my Samsung. Haven't tried the PVR yet.

What a well made piece of hardware. And oh look! A built-in fan.
