One punch kind of changed his boxing career, hope this doesn't change his political life. As everywhere, politics are very hostile in the Philippines, they have shot and killed candidates. He must be very careful.

If you think this is crazy, how about Imelda Marcos and her family being elected to government offices. Her son, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is being groomed to run for President in 2016! Add to all this insane happenings, Nancy Binay, a 39-year old mother with absolutely no credentials was inducted (elected) into the Senate. Her only qualification? She is the daughter of the Vice President. Her brother is Makati City Mayor!!!!
Jinkee Pacquiao is now Vice Governor in her province.

Its called nepotism...
Gotta feel for the Filipino people, I play tennis and basketball with some
nice Filipino guys. They are pretty sad about all this.
They are very sad Manny is fighting in China.
Ferdinand and Imelda (the shoe lady) pretty much cleaned the Philipines out.
I think they should have let the USA keep their military bases there.
They would have gotten paid much much money for them.
Now China won't let the Philipines fish around islands that they say are theirs.
So not much fish in the Philipine markets anymore. Sad.

Now I understand why Pacquiao is invading the Chinese market, he's doing politics for his country. Very interesting your post rudee.
Trough the sport he can get some done, after all boxing got him there. Dangerous indeed for the Pacquiao fa, they are in deep waters.
Money can do lots of things, this is one of them.

Not sure about the negative sentiments about Manny fighting in Macau. Why would they care where Pacquiao fights anyways? Most Pinoys watch his fights on TV. Only the rich fans spend thousands flying to Las Vegas or anywhere to see him live. The same rich followers would be happy to go to Macau - it is a lot closer!
What Marcos and his cronies stole set back the country 20 or more years and what is sad is that only a portion of the loot has been recovered - about $4 billion. Most regrettable are dismissed fraud cases against Imelda Marcos - tons of them in the Philippines, Europe, and US. Poor people are so gullible to extend her and her family the power they now seek. However, the country has vast resources and is now emerging as the south Asian economy to watch. Its biggest assets - highly tech skilled English speaking workers.
About the US Bases? No, the bases occupied valuable land. They are now developed as tax-free zones and shipping ports. Clark may soon become an international airport. There is phenomenal economic benefit in the repossession of the bases.
China is in conflict not only with the Philippines, but also Japan. AND there is a lot of fish in the Philippines. Hehehe! There is over fishing throughout the world and a decline in some species has forced fish export countries to explore the high seas. However, Philippines still averages $280 million in tuna exports. Lots of fish there, Amigo.
NOW BACK TO PACQUIAO....it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out who is telling the truth. Can you imagine a "hometown hero" to assault Belgica - a political rival of one of Pacquiao's candidates? Belgica a Barangay candidates wants his 5 minute of fame. Pacquiao's generosity to his people is well documented. Whenever he goes to poor places, he brings rice, goodies, clothes, etc. Now Belgica is using MP's generosity to accuse him of "vote buying". This is too sophomoric, it is pathetic!

My boxing friends were referring to this Aqua. Plus they say the country of China is very disliked in the Philipines.
We know about Japan.
MANILA, Philippines - Surveillance ships deployed by China in the Panatag Shoal are imposing a 24-kilometer wide ban on fishing in the area, according to some fishermen in Masinloc, Zambales.
“We were warned not to sail within 15 nautical miles from the shoal,” said Mike, one of the men whose fishing boat was recently intercepted and barred by a Chinese surveillance ship from entering Panatag.
Mike’s sister Jen said the Chinese fishing restrictions in and around Panatag have greatly affected their livelihood because of reduced catch.
China has virtually occupied Panatag (Scarborough) Shoal since last year after the Philippine government ordered the withdrawal of its vessels following a tense standoff triggered by the effort to apprehend Chinese poachers in the area.
Citing historical records, China has been claiming almost the entire West Philippine Sea and South China Sea as an integral part of its maritime domain, a claim being questioned not only by the Philippines but also other countries in the region, including Vietnam and Japan.
A U-shaped shoal that serves as entrance to Panatag’s lagoon has been roped off by Chinese vessels.
Headlines ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: 1
Panatag, historically known as Bajo de Masinloc, is the traditional fishing ground for fishermen in the town of Masinloc.
Panatag is located some 124 nautical miles from mainland Zambales, well within the country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
The area also served as impact point of joint air exercises by air forces of the Philippines and the US before the closure of Clark Field air base and Subic naval base.

China has been flexing its muscle in the Pacific against its neighbors. But except for those directly affected by the restrictions (fishermen), it is not true that Filipinos hate the Chinese. I'd venture to say that there are still some fresh wounds from the Japanese occupation after WWII. Also, in that country top earners are of 90% Chinese ethnicity (Fukien). Filipinos have embraced the Chinese through inter-marriage of several generations. Previously, people of Spanish ethnicity were the largest visible minority. Not anymore. Chinese are. (I know it is off-topic...but who wants to talk about Shane Mosley or a fight in November?)

Well, I enjoyed Philippine history 101 but we are getting a bit out off target. maybe we can direct our theme more tours Pac or move to tonight's fights. Chinese are taking over the world, we all know that.
