Hello,
just wondering if anyone has any thoughts, pro or con, on the media player function of the Jynxbox. I have a WDTV Live player and was wondering if anyone could compare the two. There are two hard drives connected to it, plus it accesses my computer and any attached drives to that. Is the Jynxbox able to do that also?
From what I've read, it seems as though its just a nice add-on, but isn't used all that much. Is that because people just have different setups, or is the functionality not up to par?
Thanks in advance.

I was actually referring to the playback functionality of the Ultra. Like I was saying, I would like to ideally use one box for FTA and media streaming.

The Ultra doesn't do streaming on is own, it is an FTA receiver with media player functions, No network capabilities other that to connect to the server. AFAIK

I'm not so concerned with streaming from the internet. I was more asking if anyone had tried to connect a hard drive to the box, then tried to play an mkv (or any other HD format) file from that hard drive with the Ultra's media player function.
Perhaps we can move this back to the Ultra section, as I'm sure some people would be able to answer this.
Thanks.

yes. the jynx's media layer works great, you can download a movie of almost any format to an external drive and playback on the jynx, the built in media player works great and is a nice feature to have,
the jynx will not stream from the internet

clarence21, the Android will stream very will but the Ultra will not. It is a FTA receiver with media player capabilities.
