It’s Thursday again, and that means TNA Wrestling will be presenting a new episode of Impact Wrestling!
With Slammiversary over, the Bound for Glory Series can finally get under way. Last week on the show, two wrestlers won qualifying matches to enter into this year’s series. Although, the first to qualify was actually at Slammiversary.
For this week’s episode, TNA has confirmed a possible follow-up confrontation from last week—trouble within a family, Bound for Glory Series qualifying matches and a legend speaking out about what happened at the 11th anniversary show.
So let’s see what TNA Wrestling has in store for the fans this week!
Rampage Jackson Returns: Will He Confront Kurt Angle?
Last week, Impact Wrestling saw the debut of TNA Wrestling’s newest superstar—UFC Light Heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
The man who will also be fighting for Bellator MMA made a simple debut, by getting interviewed by Jeremy Borash in the middle of the ring. Though what started out as simple, turned quite complicated.
After he stated that he intended on "being the best by beating the best," 12-time World Champion and Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle came to the ring to confront him. He told Jackson that he didn’t have to look far for the best—and then they shook hands and stared each other down.
After being confronted by one of TNA’s best, will Rampage Jackson interrupt Angle this week?
A Savior: How Will Hulk Hogan Respond to his Daughter Saving Bully Ray?
The Aces & Eights have been a thorn in the side of Hulk Hogan and TNA for a year now, but things got much worse at Lockdown three months ago.
The Hulkster, the general manager of Impact Wrestling, was looking for a No. 1 contender for then-World Champion Jeff Hardy. After setting up a number of matches to determine a challenger, he ignored them all and appointed Bully Ray the No. 1 contender.
Bully had just married Hulk’s daughter Brooke, so the legendary wrestler felt that giving the title shot to his son-in-law was a nice gesture. At Lockdown, Bully used a hammer, handed to him by Aces & Eights Sgt. at Arms Devon, to defeat Hardy and become the new TNA World Heavyweight champion. On top of that, Bully revealed himself as the president of the group that has been terrorizing TNA.
After Sting failed to take the title and power from Bully Ray at Slammiversary, Hogan tried to take care of business himself. Last week on Impact Wrestling, Hogan attempted to bash him with a hammer after the champion ran-off during a Ladder match with Hardy. Thanks to Brooke though, her father didn’t succeed in his mission.
What will the father say to his daughter? Does Brooke still feel something for her husband? Will Bully Ray take advantage of those possible feelings?
Bound for Glory Series Qualifier Matches
At Slammiversary, two Gut Check winners went one-on-one for a spot in the Bound for Glory Series. Jay Bradley defeated Sam Shaw that night and became the first participant to enter the series.
Last week on Impact Wrestling, Hulk Hogan revealed that wrestlers would have to qualify this year as opposed to just being named as participants. The first qualifier saw tag team partners Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez take on each other, and the end result was Hernandez getting to fight in the series for the very first time.
The second qualifier of the night was two previous participants going up against each other, Samoa Joe and Robbie E. The Samoan Submission Machine made quick work of Robbie to gain entrance to the series once again.
This week on the show, there will be at least two more matches to determine three more BFGS fighters. In a Slammiversary rematch, AJ Styles will take on Kurt Angle. And in tag team action, the new champions James Storm and Gunner fight Bad Influence.
Who will gain entrance to the Bound for Glory Series? Will there be matches to determine the other six empty slots in the annual summer tournament?
Message Received: Sting Speaks on Being Left to Fight Alone at Slammiversary
One year ago, Sting was the first target of the Aces & Eights. For an entire year, the Icon fought the gang alongside many of their other targets—which included the likes of Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle and Magnus.
Every time Sting would gain a victory for the TNA Army, the Aces & Eights would gain the momentum back immediately. Sting has been on the front-lines since day one, and at Slammiversary XI, he was set to attempt to not only get the TNA World Heavyweight Championship back for TNA, but get the power back that goes with it.
Before the match though, both the champion and challenger had a stipulation to add. Sting wanted the match to be No Holds Barred, but champion Bully Ray wanted something much bigger. He wanted it so that if Sting lost, he would never get another shot at the World Championship ever again.
Sting agreed to the stipulation, and it would come back to haunt him. At Slammiversary, Bully Ray retained the title after help from the Aces & Eights. As a result, Sting is officially out of the title picture for good.
Sting didn’t seem too upset over the loss, though. It was the fact that he was left to fight the entire gang alone that got him upset. Despite him helping everyone else, nobody came to his aide. On Twitter, Sting expressed his frustrations. And on last week’s show, TNA announced that the Icon would speak up this week.
What will Sting have to say? Does he feel betrayed by the roster? Is this the end of Sting in TNA Wrestling?
