need help on how to hook uo an external harddrive to my limesat ultra pvr

I would like to record from the limesat to a external harddrive...could someone gave me info on how to do it?....also....about the exhdd...what brand ?what size? personal or pwr plug in one? ...... also can I use an usb stick(size} instead of an exhdd? thankyou
