Just when you think it would not get better ... Excellent work goofather ... Great PDF explanation

Hey, that was easy. Converted my dd-wr-goo2 router to dd-wr-goo3 in about five minutes from off-the-air to back on channel. Right now I only have one HD running. Seems to be running just fine right now.

I did the same as Aeonflux, updated my Linksys WRT54G V1 with DD-WR-GOO 3 and was off and running with one receiver. Also, edited the startup file using 5 P$ers and must say without hesitation that channel changing is much quicker than GOO-2 with little to no delay in getting each channel and no freezing. My startup settings:
server_timeout=8
server_retries=0
ignore_caid=0
log=1

Great job GF and much appreciated!

Has anyone tried to load Goo3 on a WRT54G2 v1 yet ?Absolutely better than Goo2! Faster channel changing and more flexibility with P$ers with Goo3. I believe once more nfusion owners learn about Goo and his system, many nfusion HDs will be brought back to life. Personally, I was convinced that the Jynxbox was the best, but Goofather changed all that. Once again, the nfusion HD is the ultimate stb...an awesome box!

Besides WRT54G, can other Linksys model work with goo3, like Linksys E2500 or E1200 or E900 that can be dd-wrt? Any replies will be appreciated.

You'll have to check dd-wrt.com. If the router can use dd-wrt micro then the goo bin with work.

Goo, thanks for the response. According to the dd-wrt site, the routers can be flushed with dd-wrt but no mentioned about dd-wrt micro. Can you please enlighten me whether there is any difference between the dd-wrt and the dd-wrt micro?

If there is no mention, what does that tell you?

The differences can be found here:

If the ones for the routers above are not listed, that means they are "Special" versions.

Why don't you google the terms you do not understand? For example, google "telnet".

refer to the dd-wrt website to determine if the router is capable of running dd-wrt micro generic, this
is the bin that dd-wr-goo3 is based on.

I have even tried this Draytek router firmgrade update utility and it fails

I have read and re-read the dd-wrt wikis etc... and have no idea how to revive this box.

I have done the hard reset 30-30-30 several times as well.

the power light on the router is not flashing!1

when a wan and lan cat5 are plugged in both lights are lit...

changed ip address in ipv4 to many subnets of 192.168.1.XXX ( whatever .. 100. or .7. or .11 )

The o/s is windows 7, no firewall or A/V programs running...

I am stumped.. thank goodness for GOO3 box #1 can't miss the AXS channel concerts that would be a =crime+//

I know I should have got a linksys with dd-wrt already installed on it this UPGRADE has got me.. :(

Peace Out
I had same issue with one of my wrt54g routers.. Try just unplugging router and leave a FULL 3min. unplugged. The light on the front should come on and then you are go to go on the internet..

Stop running xx-client twice. The startup script already runs it once. To see what it is doing you use the command xx-log.

I set my lan on router to 192.168.15.1

This could be dumb question but..
I have a wrt54g v6 router with v24 micro flash on it.
I upgraded firmware to ddwr goo3 and it says it was a successful flash.
When I go router setting it says its a v24 micro.
Question is after flashing the goo 3 bin, should it say ddwr goo3.
I did this twice both times says successful flash. So Im not sure if the goo3 flash is on or not.
I put the server info into the command line. and saved it then rebooted.So can anyone confirm what the firmare says up in the left corner of router setting..

After re-reading pdf. if I run command xx-client I should find out right?

It should say v24 micro. I couldn't change the web interface, they have measures to keep people from doing it. The command to use to tell if xx-client is there is, "xx-version". If it doesn't return the version then the flash didn't take.

I notice for some people the WAN does work. It works for me sometimes then it starts dropping packets and making the nfusion freeze. It may depend on the router version.....I have a version 8. I am willing to bet the versions 1 through 4 are probably more reliable when it comes to the WAN port.

First off, thanks for all the great support Goo Father! running the software off my router has been the most stable setup I've ever had by far.

one thing I cant seem to figure out.... I've got two routers running ddwrt... one with goo3 running in repeater bridge mode (connected wirelessly to the primary router). I have an HD and an SD Nfusion, they are both hard wired to the primary router.

the SD Nfusion works perfectly in this configuration... the HD nfusion does not. I can only get the HD to work properly if it's hard wired to the Goo3 router, even though they are both configured the same way... stumped!

here's my settings.

Goo3 router
ip 192.168.1.3
sub 255.255.255.0
gate 192.168.1.2
dns 192.168.1.2

Primary router
ip 192.168.1.2
sub 255.255.255.0
gate 0.0.0.0
dns 0.0.0.0

SD Nfusion
ip 192.168.1.5
sub 255.255.255.0
gate 192.168.1.3

HD Nfusion
ip 192.168.1.6
sub 255.255.255.0
gate 192.168.1.3
dns 192.168.1.3 ...I have tried multiple settings here, as this is the only thing different between network setup in the HD and SD (the SD does not have a spot for DNS) ... I've tried primary router IP, Goo3 router IP, 0.0.0.0, 8.8.8.8 ...nothing works

...looking at the Goo3 Router LAN status page under active clients I see both the HD and SD IP addresses... but only the SD one has a connection count (2) ... the HD has 0 .... until I hardwire it to the Goo3 router and all is well.

...using xx-log command it doesnt look like Goo3 is receiving requests from the HD at all, even though it's visible on the LAN active client status page (when trying to connect through primary router), it just waits for a request..

so, in summary.... the HD only works when wired directly, the SD will work either way... (even though they're both configured similarly).... but I want them both to work wirelessly! any idea what I could be missing?!

I have no idea how to get this going. I have a netgear wireless router and I have a dlink bridge that the nfusion is attached to. I tried iks4suns and the program doesn't work. Just curious, most seem to be using the Linksys WRT54G with dd-wrt than goo3...The WRT54G is an antique. Do most people use that as it is the simplest to set up? Or is it the most reliable? I see there are tons of routers compatible with dd-wrt.

What are the top three most reliable routers to use with dd-wrt/goo3? I can get a WRT54G V8 for $20. Was just going to go with that, but if there is something that you experienced guys recommend that is more reliable, I would go with that. The 54G is cheap and convenient.

Thanks

Finally have my WRT54G and the Nfusion HD talking to each other through my home internet. Currently working on the command shell for the xx-client. No luck with that part yet. Can someone copy/paste a script for a single server for use with nfusion hD. Obviously blur or xx your user/pass...Does the des key need the semi colin between each 2 digits like with the NOI?

jabroni
12-05-2013, 09:25 PM
How do you edit the saved ini script. I made a typo. I tried changing it 10x from scratch, copy/pasting the same script substituting my user/pass/server info. Looks like it takes, but when I use the command xx-ini...it shows that the old info with the typo is being used. I am so close to getting this to work, the internet side of this was a bit time consuming, but hopefully the goo side goes quick. I cannot get the NF to talk to goo to give the nf the server info.

Any ideas or suggestions?

with xx-start I get...
XX-Client NF Edition v1.0
[-CLI-] UDP socket binding failed on port 80. Address already in use.
[-CLI-] XX-Client Closed.
[-CLI-] UDP server initialization failed.

I am at a loss. Not sure what is wrong. My syntax looks fine eh? I am using the exact server info I used with NOI. Any suggestions or places to try next. I have read through countless forums, but no new info.

I guess worst case, if I give up on this, I ended up with a $20 wi-fi bridge to use with NOI and use my previous bridge for another receiver. Kind of a shame considering how much time I put into this.

Everything is completed up to the goo3 steps, but I just cannot get goo3 to talk to the receiver and private server.

Wow.....unbelievable...after all that time, the solution was that my dumb ass forgot to put a local DNS in the Network setup router IP on the main router login page.

Working great.

Does goo3 only work with the Linksys WRT54G series router (minus V7)...or is it compatible with any router listed as being compatible with dd-wrt. Just curious as there are many listed as compatible with dd-wrt under the d-link and netgear brand. I successfully got my linksys wrt54g to work. Was going to get one for a friend and set it up for him, but find they are a bit more difficult to find now. There are tons of d-link and netgear series routers on kijiji.

Seem your are a lucky guy, if you can help, I read and read all info, know answer to my problem.
I have internet with a mobile hub, its a modem router combo. I plug the ethernet cable from lan to wlan of the other router that is now becoming the main router(wrt54g) that have Goo3 and I put the script on it for my Nfusion hd. on the Nfusion hd in network setting I set dhcp so it get connection to internet through the router wrt54g. when I check in the router wrt54g I see in active client my Nfusion hd connection count to 4, but after 1 minute, it get to 0 and on my tv I see disconnect.
In my script I put
server_timeout=10
server_retries=0
ignore_caid=1
log=0

server_0="username:[email protected]:port/deskey"
Do I need to put the "", after password I got no @, it example:see.goo-to.net

.make_inis

xx-client

If I run xx-version, or any test, I get a no found

Thank you for answer that could help

I did it in steps...
1) get a linksys wrt54G than is any version other than version 7
2) flash wrt54g to dd-wrt
3) flash dd-wrt to goo3
4) set up the now "goo3" router to act as a "client bridge"...or whatever mode you need to give the nfusion internet access via
the web interface
5) get all the internet connections talking to each other (home internet to linksys, linksys to nfusion, nfusion to goo3 script). I
used a static IP on the nfusion and the wrt54g to avoid any future conflicts
6) run the script as per goofathers .pdf

I had to factory reset the router many times using the 30-30-30 method as quite a few times I lost the ability to access the router (always my own fault)

My scenario may be different than yours though. I am using the wrt54g to pick up my house wireless from my other router, than act like a client bridge to give a wired connection to my nfusion.

Hope this doesn't sound too dumb, the NFHD requires its own dedicated and separate router in order to run goo3? and that connects to regular home router?

You can use 2 routers or 1 your choice..

Im trying to connect all hard wired primary to secondary routers can someone tell me does Ethernet cable from main primary router plug into secondary (goo3 router's) WAN port or LAN port? Also anytime I try to make change to IP addy ( as im told to do on goo's PDF) on dd-wrt router set up page hit save then apply I lose internet signal. I've hard reset about 100 times trying to get past this step. Ive been successful in applying goo3 and start up script just cant seem to put it all together but I know im close.

also dont try to change your ip in the router you dont have to just leave all the settings as they are when you are dont flashing the router . on your nfusion set the network settings to dhcp and have it connected directly to the goo3 router and you should have channels also it it seems to take a long time to reconnect when a channel goes out mess around with the server timeout setting i set mine at 9 but have seen others at 7 so mess around and see what works best for you good luck

Well that didn't work either, Don't understand why after entering all settings, on buffalo whr-g54s router with dd-wrt and goo 3, hit save and apply settings unit says successful rebooting router then shows what seems to be an error reading, "you may have to restart computer or run ip config/release ipconfig/renew in windows command". I then have to 30/30/30 reset just to get back into dd-wrt set up and start all over again. Ive tried the dd-wrt wiki wireless access point long version tutorial still does the same thing. Wondering if I should just start fresh and buy the Linksys wrt-54g

well here is what my xx-log command gives me now with primary router LAN hard wired to goo3 router WAN, and goo LAN hard wired to NFHD with 25 bin both set to DHCP. Goo router is a Buffalo whr-g54s and came with DD-WRT micro, factory installed.

it's been a while since i done one of these...

my questions are:

1. does the DES key need semi colins? eg...

01:02:03:04:05:06:07:08:09:10:11:12:13:14
vs
0102030405060708091011121314

2. do we use parenthesis (" ") or remove them? eg...

server_0="username:password@server:port/des_key"
vs
server_0=username:password@server:port/des_key

I just took out all my semi-colons and parenthesis and left setup on interface as is (DHCP), then set NFHD to DHCP and finally got this to work for me after a week. I know Goo intended static settings but I'm gonna take what I can get for now and hope it is as they say better than NOI. Thnx Poroto40 and velocity9421

hello Goo So I guess I need to set something else that I overlooked. It has been somewhat daunting just getting to where I am so I may have overlooked some basic directions slapping me in the face. But No body seems to have asked this question so I must be the only person trying to figure out how to write or set up to this program. I think I will have it done once I figure this out with some help.
Before I put in the start up script xx-version did say I had GOO-3 (per goofather's pdf) so I assume xx-client was working then. I put in the startup script and saved it and the script now stays below where my version info was displayed.My client bridge works and nfusion has internet as my weather map does display. I do over think making things seem more difficult. So basically after entering the start up script if done correctly that should be it?????

"server_" either 1 2 or3 and so on is for separate servers / donations
As far as one donation for multiple stb,s no more than one powered up at the same time. 1 donation 1 box.

If you are using more than 1 receiver at the same time you need multiple donations. How to set up several receivers, each with their own donation is explained in the PDF readme file included in your download.

goofather (or anyone else with the answer):

I just downloaded and installed goo3 on a linksys that was already running dd-wrt v24-sp2 micro. The upgrade went fine (the firmware date is correct) and the router is functioning. However, when I feed it a command (via the web interface) it doesn't return anything. Tried "xx-version" as shown in your pdf, hit "run commands", and got nothing in return (not even an error).

Am I missing something small and stupid?

Did you copy and paste the start up script and save:
To create a startup script you must open a browser and navigate to http://<router_ip>. Then click on the
Administration->Commands tabs. Once there you will find an edit box and a button labeled “Save Startup”.
You insert the startup script into the edit box and when finished you click the “Save Startup” button. Reboot
to execute the startup script and launch xx-client.
