We were looking around my mothers property, and we found a bush that is producing this fruit.
Any clue what it is.
Approx: 1 inch round. 3 inches long.
My mother thinks they are called Bird Tomatoes. Never heard such a thing..
Edible or Not?

Thanks

Wish I could help you out bud but I've never seen anything like that before. Are you sure it's a fruit and not a vegetable?

Well I'm calling it a fruit because it resembles a fruit more then a veg.

I was thinking some kind of persimmon. They are found in the central USA.

Definitely not a cherry tomato..

Not sure?

Thanks

Here is what it looks like cut open. Resembles a pepper of some kind. No noticeable smell.

Definitely not a pomegranite, lived where they grow for 8 years and I still eat them.

I would email your local garden center with a few pics. Got me baffled.

Yeah I agree. I think I need to send some pics to the Conservation Department.
I'm sure they would know.
