Is there a way to run xx-client on an open router? I currently have an xfta that blows and has to be rebooted constantly...maybe turn gargoyle router into dd-wrt and run it?

yes it can be done.

as poroto40 said you could use a wr703n and install openwrt to it and use a usb to serial adapter for your viewsat

I have it working with an VS9K and a NFHD on the same DD-WRT, linksys WRT54Gv2, you have to use serial port 2 in the router (tty1).

what kind of cable you use to hook up vs9k to router?

i used the female null cable connection that came with the xfta...loaded it up with xx-client through wincsp and used putty scripts to get everything going....way way better than x-fta crap
