I'm looking for a media player that is a freebie that will work in windows 8 and will play UDF format DVDs.

tried it and it told me I had to use the paid version to play UDF .

yes I did. windows 8 does not like it at all. I get a message tell me that it could damage my files.

News to me - been running vlc with w8 for the last 6 months.

ok it worked. I got the 64bit copy from cnet and it works fine.
