I've used the vonnets and many other portable wifi devices. They work but you need to be fairly close to your wifi .

Spend the money and get a real wifi gaming adapter or if you don't mind the trouble buy an old lynksys router and load it with 3rd party firmware. You will get amazing range and no dropped connections.

Never tried in the Dreamlink HD. I gave up on those because of its limited range and dropped connections.

Wonder why it wouldn't work as it should get the ip needed to connect.

I would like to try it too, but the problem is it only has one USB jack and if you need to reload a bin then you could lose that connection temporarily if it will do wireless wifi that is.

I would use external power with one of those USB power adapters.

you do not need an internet connection to load a file

I use the vonets wifi bridge with my dreamlink hd, it works awsome, was easy to set up. you dont have to use the usb adapter to power it, just remove usb adapter from power cord and unplug the power from dreamlink, plug the power adapter from dreamlink into vonets and then plug the vonets power cord into the dreamlink. there is a spot on the back of the vonets to plug a power adapter into so just plug dreamlink adapter in there and the vonets into dreamlink. I use this setup in my travel trailer, I broadcast wifi thru my cell phone and connect with the vonets, works awsome.

The vonets adapter will work with the Dreamlink. It's a pain to get it to work but it will work. One thing that is helpful is to get a separate power supply for the vonets. So plug the usb adapter of the vonets into an ac adapter that plugs directly into the wall. Then plug the ethernet port into the dreamlink. Then, set network settings to static. Then hit red button to save. Exit out the menu and then go back into the menu and this time switch it from Statis to DHCP and then save. Which should happen is that the dreamlink gets an ip address. What you do then is red button save and exit out. Turn to 200, 300 or 114. and you should get a pic.

Then you can use the free usb slot on your dreamlink for an external hard drive for pvr functions.

ive used the vonets, both of them, they work great! i have the purple wireless g version on my dreamlink hd and its powered by the dreamlinks usb port and i have the vonets white wireless n model on my security camera system and it works great! the only thing i hate about the wireless n model is that it forces u to use its repeater mode when in bridge mode, which i have to say... SUCKS! it makes me drop connections on other devices when they connect to the repeaters signal..... if it wasnt for that, it would be perfect.

You can buy a TP-link TL-WR703N nano router size of your palm and turn it into bridge mode i tested it a while ago works very good.

i was going to start a post about the same issue. I have the T4, and have had very little success with the Nanosat Vonets. Prior they they have worked really well for me. I am having issues at two homes right now, and three different receivers. I own a Jynxbox Ultra Hd which until recently worked really well, then I had a issue with either my router or local cable company, so I put in a Linksys DDwrt router in place of a regular Linksy's router. Since then I have had no success reconnecting. I have used the software right off of *ta electronics, still no luck. I am wondering if my signal is to weak now? Is there only one version of the software? I am having this issue at my girlfriends, at my place I have the Dreamlink T4, and have only been able to connect tethering my phone to the vonet once. It has a hard time picking up the ip address. I have tried the original cd, software mentioned above from website, turned off firewall on computer, etc. but nothing. I even tried with my Jynxbox downstairs with 802.11n/g/b 150Mbps Mini USB WiFi Wireless Adapter that works great. very strange behavior considering I have used these vonets for a few years and worked great. the only things that have changed is the internet provider I am using and the router change I mentioned at my girlfriends.

Provider modem/routers change from manufacturer.
The range/transmit power must be lower from the new provider.

So if I buy a ac adapter for the vonet, will it perform better?
