In what is a fairly shocking piece of news, it appears former Diva Chyna is under consideration for a spot in the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame.

PWI, via Lords of Pain, notes that that there is currently talk within the company that legendary stable DX will be the main inductee at next year's ceremony, and former member Chyna will be invited to participate in festivities:

On a related note, it looks like DX as a group will be the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame headliners. They were going to go in this year until WWE worked out a deal with Bruno Sammartino.

The big news coming out of a possible DX induction is the return of Chyna to WWE TV. Word going around WWE is that she will be invited. Sources close to Chyna are also aware of a possible induction and there may have been some early communication between the two sides already.

This is a tough one.

Obviously, you can't induct DX into the Hall of Fame without the former Playboy cover girl. As the tough, no-nonsense bodyguard to Triple H, Chyna was a valuable member of the group and participated in some of their most famous skits.

She also broke the mold for what a woman in wrestling could do, becoming the first, and so far only, woman to ever win the Intercontinental Championship. She helped establish that girls in the business could be far more than just eye candy. Without her, would we ever have had Lita, Beth Phoenix or Jazz? Unlikely.

But, of course, there are the star's real-life problems to consider. Following her departure from WWE in 2001, Chyna's life fell into a messy and very public downward spiral, one she has arguably never recovered from.

Notably, she got tangled up in an emotionally destructive relationship with fellow DX member Sean Waltman, culminating in the release of an embarrassing sex tape.

Later, Chyna got into the porn business full-time, even appearing in a wrestling-themed film which parodied her real-life personal issues with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in September 2012, via WrestlingInc.

Burning bridges, she has frequently trashed Vince McMahon, Triple H and Stephanie for driving her out of the company.

She's battled substance abuse issues too. The star had an unsuccessful stint on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab in 2008. Additionally, TMZ has reported various drug and alcohol-related incidents with the star over the years.

It truly is hard to believe that this is the same woman who appeared on MTV's True Life show in the late '90s and came off as one of the nicest, smartest and most grounded people in the business. She really is one of wrestling's saddest stories.

While we might be tempted to applaud WWE brass for not holding any grudges and being willing to bring back the star, despite all she has said about them over the years, you have to question the wisdom of it.

Even taking out her adult film career (the PG sponsors aren't exactly going to be over the moon about her return), is she simply too erratic to trust in such a high-profile spot?
