As you probably know by now, WWE.com reported that “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus will be laid up for close to six months due to a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
Apparently, the injury occurred at July’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view and has forced the tough-nosed Superstar to sit on the sidelines for the rest of 2013. After the news broke, Sheamus took to Twitter with the following statement:
Well. @WWE will be a lot less Cetlic for up to half-a-year, me #MITB shoulder is banjacked... No tears. It's not me drinking arm.
— Sheamus (@WWESheamus) August 7, 2013
He later followed up with a more comical tweet:
Shoulder rehab includes repeatedly lifting a 1lb weight OR 16 fluid ounces. A pint of Guinness is 16oz. An Irish cure @WWEDocSampson?

Quite frankly, this injury couldn’t have some at a better time for the former WWE and World Champ. The fact is, he has been stuck in upper-midcard limbo for the better part of this year and has lost a bit of his edge.
Don’t get me wrong. He still puts on a solid match. It’s just frustrating to see so many former main eventers stuck in limbo, especially considering the amount of younger stars who are getting called up and could use a feud with some of these guys to help get them over.
Ultimately, the WWE has a chance to rework the Sheamus persona and take some time to figure out what they want to do with him. Personally, I’d like to see the company throw him back in the Word Title mix, except this time give him a feud with sustenance and give the fans a reason to care about that title again.
Overall, the WWE has a lot of veterans who are either injured, working injured or coming back from injury. This puts their current personas on hold and causes character confusion upon their return—leaving fans wondering if they should cheer or boo the returning Superstar.
In the end, six months is a long time away, and anything can happen, so I guess we will have to wait and see how his recovery unfolds.
