Can one the the folks in the know please write a how2? I am looking at some very incomplete instructions to load this box. How get newcamd going? How to write the config file for it? Where put it?

How 2 scan channels? How 2 sort epg by SID?

I want to buy one of these boxes real bad but not until I see some instructions to get beyond 'load the box'.

How about a picture how2 to mount the new tuner and SK400? Help me buy one of these. Get out some step 1 to step x instructions from the beginning to watching TV. Even if they are a bit sketchy, you gotta have something more than just how to load the image. We will fill in the details and help each other after that but you hafta get us started with something.

I haven't seen anybody say you have to write your own files. In fact the way I understand it is that you just load a software image (bin) to the box and proceed as any other box. I suspect it is much the same as android in those regards with software already installed in the image. If not, there is going to be a lot of disappointed people. Most have issues with loading bins and scanning sats. Add in a whole new operating system (linux) you need to program yourself when the majority of people can not fathom Windows beyond internet explorer would make absolutely no sense to a company wanting to sell boxes.

at the same time open source code is good as it gives people with the skills to be able to tweak things to their liking and also offer up altrnatives to the current standard. Imagine also having XBMC pre-loaded with the image and it already has all nevessary plugins and repositories configured and ready to roll right from the get go... one word ... SWEET!

In the newcamd applications that I have seen, you write a small config file to set up your servers. Hopefully this is easier than that. I have reread the load file instructions and they seem to indicate a 9999 passcode for the newcamd access but not give any specifics as to what menu or screen you must be on to use it. I really want to buy one of these but I have DPP LNBs. Is there a work-around yet for DPP? My setup has power inserter so power to the LNBs is not an issue. I hear so many promises for box software that never happens that I am now gunshy to just rush out there with $200. How long will I hold my hand on my butt waiting for DP LNBs to come true?

There is no dpp option for lnb only legacy twin and regular KU lnbf and a couple others , hope this will be added in the near future .As this could be a promising box , I just enjoy testing them and if it works to my liking i will set aside my Dreamlink for awhile .

Alright guys

2 cool features i figured out today

1 - there is an option to set the standby to deep or regular

deep stand by will reboot the box , normal stand by just displays time on the front.

2 - you can change the transparency of the menu and the menu will become completely transparent and video in background will be 100% visible - found it cool

as i test more.. will post more

I found that in regular standby mode , even my Motor stays on all the time vs. a deep standby .And if you have it on standby , the time from off to watching tv is faster
