How about add a fan? Not sounds too good that the box runs hot. Heat is the big killer of electronics. And I hate kludge up the whole show with external crap. Needs to come up with a good working solution to heat problem. Good thing I not buy one yet. I would be cursing it out. Needs a lot more development right now. EPG is a major item in my book along with DP LNB support. My money currently burning holes in my pockets waiting to see how this goes. I want one, but it has to be user friendly.

Please add Diseqc settings under Motor section , this week of testing has produced many unwanted bugs and resets . I have an invacom lnbf that has Linear and circular outputs ( dual) I seperate my Linear and circular feeds with diseq switch port one circular and port 4 linear , and under motor screen there is no option to set this before scanning , if i go back into anntenna settings there is no option of the setup motor sats to appear for me to make the adjustments , and if changed the motor / antenna communications are confused and the motor wont move . Just a thought , but you Pinwheel team are heading in a good direction .

Please add option for short name / Long name for scans , as many other teams have better luck with EEPG on short name

since this is a wishlist thread ..I would like to see a little box on info screen .perhaps beside mp4/mp2 square , showing a symbol of which server you are on ..eg. S1 / s2 or P for publix server . rather than going into server screen and shutting on or off each time there is an outage .

also an option in the epg Guide menu to select a channel and have it visible when keying it in . and having the option to go to that channel within the guide screen .

Selection for south is one of the best if not the best !
For ur other questions, VOD still in the works & IPTV is also, believe with time will all be available to us, guys are doin a great job to such a new TOY :)

This box seems to have the same issues as the Jynxbox when it comes to using a DPP44 switch. It does not effectively scan/register all tp's. When manually scanning, even though it picks up the tp, it shows no signal when going to that channel. I believe this is all software related and hopefully itwill be worked out soon....my wish... :yes:

What I've ended up doing for him is factory defaulting several times and doing a hard reboot (in this case, unplugging the stb.) I then reloaded the file.119 then scanned most tp's, thorough with 110 and 91. He'll watch over the next couple of days and report back.

Thanks ftaforme, I agree. I have definitely been around for a while and this thing has me stumped. I cannot get it to reliably scan 119, no matter what I do. I have scanned and defaulted many many times and it has scanned 110 almost every time. Twice it scanned 119, with the same settings, the same everything, and I am copying exactly everything every time. The settings work perfectly for three other stb's on 119, just not on the mini, so hopefully the right people are reading the wish list and see it is an issue.

On tp 12297 it locks on 110, or at least it says it's 110. When I get it to lock onto 119 it actually is scanning 110. You know I've been around this hobby for a while, but really, this has got me very confused...it has to be sw since the other stb's all work perfectly on the same line, same settings, etc. This box does nee the ability to scan single sats, one at a time, though. It doesn't seem to do that.....

Factory defaulted, loaded new file, hard reboot, same thing, cannot scan 119. Remember, the Jynxbox, SonicviewHD and Linkbox all are scanning it fine. I guess I'll have to wait for them to work on DPP44 combinations in the software....

They have to work on DPP44 switch. When configured as dishpro and diseq parameter as A,B,C,D there is signal sometimes and no signal another time. Also noted when you change channels no signal and wait for sometime may signal kicks in. I think dishpro and DPP44 needs fine tuning in the software. When tested with standard lnbs and regular diseq switches no issues. If these minor issues are corrected Pinwheel mini is a great receiver.

Shoutcast is working great on my pro version , if you installed the latest file you need to go to apps and applications and re install it . each time a file is updated this needs to be done ;)

You may be having standard lnb set ups. I am having dish pro and dpp44 switch which has the issue.

ram66 and I have the same setup, dpp44 with dplus lnb's and I have been in this hobby for quite a while and am familiar with troubleshooting. The bottom line is that I am using the same settings for three other stb's which work perfectly well with a dpp44 and dplus lnb without issues on the exact same line. I am using the same settings on the mini as with those other stb's and it does not scan 119. I am not going out on a limb by saying I believe it is a sw issue with the mini. The only way to exclude the sw is if someone has the same hardware and is successfully scanning 119 or 118.
Simple question, does anyone have a mini scanning all tps and channels on 119 or 118 using a dpp44 switch and a dplus lnb?
If not, at the top of my wishlist is to be able to do so!:yes:

I agree with daryld. I cannot buy the mini until it support DPP LNBs and DPP44 switch. Has to happen B4 I can do this thing. I think a lotta folks with HD already have the 1000.2s and it works for every other box so come on Team Pinwheel. Let's get 'er done.

Its running Linux so it would not be to hard for them to compile the application and use existing scripting to incorporate the channels and details into own database.

Another thing I wish the Pinwheel had is when you push the "last" button, that a screen came up and showed you your last 8 or 9 channels you were on like the Limesats and the Veiwsats did. That is such an awesome feature!!

I do noticed the Jynx box SD picture is far more superior to the pinwheel SD picture. However hard to say a difference between HD picture in both boxes. When considering AV options Jynxbox has many many options like native, source etc where we can play around to get the best picture possible where as pinwheel has only limited three options. It would be nice if these options are addressed in the future firmware updates and I have no doubts will be one of the best receivers

Apparantly people have noted this about the SD picture too.. Pin Team please try to adjust the SD picture if you can. some people have noticed early files worked better sd quality wise. People said Hd is good. Yes plugins would be great for different things.. Good to hear they are working on youtube and xmbc which is basically the ultimate thing. Also, that under av settings the box seems to default at 1080i, it will not stick at 1080p setting. I have been corrected that this is the maximum any broadcast comes in, but i am skeptical thinking maybe the boxes ui and everything viewed on it is stuck at 1080i because of the setting being stuck at i and will not save to 1080p

Please test about terrible ghosting happening in sd on sony tv's. less visible in hd. Mostly around any moving object on the video, there are pixels which only appear for any sony tv. (60in). any other reciever does not have this. Overall the sd is a little bad compared to other boxes. But they're constantly releasing fixes, so I hope this message about sd quality goes through. The new file seems to fix the last posted problem about 1080p option not sticking in AV settings. This seems to be fixed with other options for video source as well so that is great!

why don't you try your tv in 720p and see if the ghosting goes away. any time you do video conversions you will lose some quality. I think with a tv that large it is just more noticeable. If that is not the problem then it is TV specific but I don't see anybody else reporting a similar issue. At the same time I can't see any manufacturer investing megabucks in a specific large screen model to troubleshoot an isolated problem

The issue stays in 720p format. The dealer said that this is a issue with pinwheel for most sony tv's only (model inspecific), and does not go away with any setting change on it.

Update: The problem is narrowed down to the receiver broadcasting in around 50fps to the tv, and the tv expecting 60fps. No option fixes it. As far as I think this is the issue according to online searching. Just putting it out incase someone is reading and knows a fix

Hi, and thank you for the comment. I looked into what you said and I am wondering if I have something set up wrong. When I do press the v format button to switch between different qualities. I get options ending in 50. such as 1080p and then 50 at the end which I thought was the 50hz framerate i was referring too. all options have 50 at the end and the ghosting around colours doesnt go away. Do I have it in pal mode or something?

you are right about the 50 being the refresh rate, now why it iss doing that is weird. I can't make mine display anything other than 60Hz... is it possible the tv is somehow running at 50Hz instead of 60 and everything else has adapted to that video format?

50hz will only show if tv supports pal/ntsc

check your tv settings to make sure it is set to ntsc only mode

You confirmed that it displays 60 on your end. I will look at the tv manual and see where the error lies, or connect a hdmi monitor to report back if i see the 60 when choosing in vformat. I will report back.

It really needs support for Dish 1000+ LNB and DPP33 (the LNB with the internal/integrated DPP33 switch). I have the Pinwheel HD Mini currently setup on my Dish 1000+ (110,118,119,129) and I cannot get it to scan in each satellite properly due the switch settings available.

I have the following setup:

119 = Port A
110 = Port B
118 = Port C
129 = Port D

All configured with DishPRO LNB Type.

When I scanned.....it scanned in the same channel on each satellite...meaning CNN ch. 200 was scanned in on 119,110,118,and 129. So now I have CNN on 4 channels and they are all working.

So it seems that the Pinwheel cannot switch to the correct LNB properly because of the internal switch on my Dish 1000+.

Also I am missing a lot of channels from all satellites and also losing signal when switch between satellites.

****Please note: I am able to scan in these satellites just fine on my Viewsat 9000 HD.****

"When you scan"> Before you scan get a lock on each satellite. There are various settings from a to c and 1 to 16. Try (TEST)

Leave it on 239 for a bit...Should build quite a bit...and the longer on 239 or 200 the better it it !!

epg will compile faster if you park it on channel 200 and then power down via the remote for 5 minutes

I would to see what IKS server the box is using while video is still playing, and the choice to choose between providers. I have no way of knowing which p$ its using, or if its still using the public server. Havent gotten a certain channel to work all night, but have no idea if its my server, or the public one thats the issue (I have shut off the p$, got no pic, turned p$ on, still...no pic!). Most other channels come in great.

Is there a box on the market that shows what iks server is being used while watching tv?
If you install one solid p$ then you will know which one you are using.
If you haven't gotten certain channel to work using different p$ then good chance it is down.

I believe the suggestions we give should be realistic and not ask for more than a sub from provider can supply.

The Jynxbox shows which server is being used. Eg. server 1, 2 3 etc.. You just have to know what slot you put your specific service in. But when watching, you can see it select the appropriate server to support the channel choice. Yes would be nice to see that on the PW.

Why can't these guys get the switch arrangement right for DP Plus LNB's with a DPP44 switch? Every other stb can do it, whycan't they??? My mini doesn't scan accurately in any way with that arrangement, regardless of the settings I try. Are you out there listening Pinwheel guys? It looks like a great product but I can't be sure......just a dust collector right now....

EPG is still an issue. It seems leaving it on 200 and power down the receiver via remote for 5 minutes does populate but still A LOT of gaps. It seems to be a great box with great picture but still needs work to correct the bugs.

I wish developers would make a virtual remote app. for Android/Apple devices for Pinwheel.
The crappy physical remote that comes with Pinwheel doesn't repond that well when you press the remote's buttons.
Sometimes it doesn't respond at all when I press them.
Or least they could make a better physical remote that responds better and doesn't squeak when you press the buttons.

I was thinking of something more like Channel Master. I do know how to delete channels,but thank you for posting the info for others.

I have a ghetto solution for the guide downloading. I set a daily timer to record 2 min on channel 239 with the timer set to standby the box after done. It is not pretty, but it works.

For network drives we need a search function to find the drives. I find that with some drives, even though you put the ip address and the name of the share, it won't connect. In linux the samba setup allows for the search of ip addressed devices like printers and shared hdd's. That should be an easy change. Since the PinWheel HD is in the same domain as all the other local devices.

Even better if we could scan the LAN for UPNP drives (Universal Plug and Play), that would work really well.

Checked VLC on my IPad and it picks up all my drives as network drives as soon as I press the option.

Sorry, but you are wrong about this.I use the power injector for the DPP44 switch on port 1, the Pinwheel on port 2. I have tried everything. You are the first person who has said these two work together well with this stb. If you have it working and scanning all tp's give me your settings and I'll try again, but I am dubious....

Sorry, but been there and done that months ago. Do you have the same set up? I have 119 on A, 110 on B and 91 on C (second DP Plus lnb) on DiseQ1.0, DishPro lnb setting and all of the above and it still does not even scan 119 or Nimiq. Every other stb I have does so and Pinwheel acknowledges the problem. Maybe you should share the secret with them .....

What problem with usal...i just re did my mini with the 3.0.......the usals worked good......but i cant stand the slowness of the epg for dish......and just trying to go threw the channels i have 5 sats......its so slow.........the epg was killing me.....im done with it........plugged back in the nfusion......had guide right away......channels move quicker........

Pinwheell speed up the channels.......fix the epg......and when you go into epg and select a channel....automatically exit the epg......it sucks having to manually do it every time........

Where did you set the ports for usals? there is no option for port diseqc 1.0 in "motor" menu....

You dont set ports......usuals is the auto selection for the satellites........you pich the satellite pick usuals and hit go to and it finds the satellite. Then scann it in and when it saves you reboot and when yoh go to the channels it will automatically move to.the satellite

it doesnt work this way. i have a 4x1 switch with 2 fixed dishes and 2 motorized dishes. usals needs to know the port to witch to
send the impulse to the motor to move. maybe is working when you connect the cable from the motor directly to the box.
