can a legacy receiver be used to power 1000.2 dish or does it need to be a dp receiver.I have an extra receiver but not a dpp44 and will need to run another cable into home as I am only running one receiver. I am trying to set up new jxnxbox, i cannot get anything but 42 and 43 for signal and quality now. When I first hooked up I was able to scan satellites to get many channels, by the time I entered server info and connected I seen all satellites were 42 and 43. Did I fry the jb200 already? I am thinking this is the reason my limesat may have burned out also because I don't heave enough power to power the switch in lnb. Any ideas would be appreciated.

a legacy receiver puts out about 750ma...better than the Jynxbox, but not enough for reliable function of 1000.2 You could always mod an old printer power supply as long as it puts out 21-24 V at 1 amp or higher

You need the proper DC interface to inject the DC power to the D1000 LNB, just connecting it to the LNB may damage something..

The D1000 LNB needs at least 650 mA of DC current, the legacy receiver (from Dish or BEV) also needs to see the LNB's, this to provide the correct DC voltage, what you can do is power up the reciver and use a DVM to measure the DC voltage at the LNB input on the receiver, you may have to hook it to the LNB first, then disconnect it from the LNB and then do the measurement

An old Dish 311 receiver will put out a constant 20 volts DC at 750 mA when it finds the LNB's, an old legacy receiver may only put out 13 or 18 volts DC, (13 volts is not enough for the D1000 LNB) this is because that is how it worked, it used a DC voltage to switch between the transponders, the newer 301's on up don't, they use band stacking for the transponders and supply a constant voltage, you may find one at a garage sale.

And you don't need the DPP44 switch, just the DPP switches power inserter, always use the correct equipment to run the LNB's from Dish, it will save your hair, and keep you from pounding your head against the wall.

Terryl. So I could just get the power inserter and run a coax to the first port(119) to that and then run a coax from the second to fta box. Correct?
