The Jynxbox pure linux unit is a real as odd as the message to the OP is...

From what I hear they have an dual core unit called the M6 and an IP tv box, which eliminates the need for a dish or and IKS subscription...

From what I heard the next generation of dick testing is not using the satellite and STB but using a video over IP device like the jynx or xbmc android boxes and the connection to a private server that will allow 300 channels to stream via the internet. The cost of such units is still high but in time, the price will surely drop, and they will slowly perfect the technology.

Pretty much there already. Within XBMC is a program called NAVI-X that has numerous links to streaming of popular channels on satellite, not to mention tons of movies and TV shows.
