Can someone that has used this receiver and other HD receivers comment on how well it actually works please. I see some saying its on its way to being one of the best, yet from what I read, it seems to have as many issues as most.

I was thinking of getting one, but I have some big reservations. I am seeing a lot of posts about lagging Hd, or green pixelation at the bottom of the screen. Also read about difficulty running SW series switches same as the Jynxbox. Recording issues, and black screen or disconnect after recording. I read issues with more than two servers. Also remarks about the SD picture being worse than Jynxbox, which I think is already horrible. Not even close to my SV SD picture. All this to me is much more important than the other features it offers. I couldn't care less about IPTV, Shoutcast, or media playback capabilities etc.. I want to watch TV. lol

What I do care about is no switch issues, as I need a unit that can work on my SW44 switch. If I don't have that, then I need to set up a 4th and 5th dish for 3 receivers and a sub. Does it work with SW switches?

I want to see smooth channel changes between servers, and without freezing or lag.

I want to see a good quality picture, and a decent epg.

I want a decent remote control with good range that works without having to go 6 feet in front of the box and point directly at it.

Any honest comments about this unit would be appreciated.

I don't think there is a box, either FTA or sub unit that meets all those requirements. Sure it still has a ways to go but it has only been on the market about 6 weeks as well.

this box good box is for man & if u want 1 u have play with to get to know the box.is litte slow is ok not for whole family .im playing with 1 mini.

You can have it work with switches just need to play
I hooked my pinwheel to dish hd triple lnbf w/using lnb in slot for 118.7
So internal switch works ,just had to play with type and slot A B C D or 1 2 3 4
Testing 119, 110, 129, 118.7 I'm thinking of testing motor also , has this feature.

i have jynx and i used dreamlink but ithink this is far better then those boxes SD and HD is far far better i like the support and public is one of the best VLC like cream on top plus iptv with all soccer and cricket plus other APPs i am happy and highly recommended i am just a user so it up to you to decide cheers

I have a Pinwheel Pro and a JX The SD picture Quality is far superior then the JX like any receiver the Quality is only as good as your tv there is a few seconds lag between servers and the EPG for North sucks big time but hopefully they will fix it soon EPG for South is Great even stays populated when in standby mode.the WIFI is very stable best Ive seen I'm very Happy with Mine.

How am I even supposed to give this to my son (who paid for it. His first box) when it doesn't even have a bev EPG? 82 or 91

Can't connect wifi other than static, and it doesn't bring a picture then even when connected.
It looses server settings for no reason.
Sub par scanning, even with over 90% quality.
Can't pick a channel to view from EPG without having to hit the exit button to view.
Slow channel changes.
Bev EPG channels out of order, even after sort by SID.
Favorites list disappears.

Great HD Picture
It does record well... If you go to another receiver and look at that EPG to see what channel your show is on. lol.

Also, does not work with DPP44 switch. You can fool with it all you want, but I've already put the time in for you and until there is a fix this box is not going to work with DP LNB's with DPP44 switch....

For all pinwheel the highest file number is 2.6 where did u get 5.1 ?

seems I told you a week ago you wasn't going to find what you were looking for and you never will in the game you are playing either. you were looking for a box with sub quality features then you should have bought a sub box and forgot about a FTA unit. instead you jumped on the newest kid in town and expected miracles from the get go and it does not work that way.

now many people are having various issues as they test the box. anybody not wanting to put effort in other than watching TV should not be buying the newest thing out there. That is testing, looking for bugs and possible solutions. you seem to have a lot more issues than most of the people. I really don't care what you have for a signal but I think I would be overhauling your system before it gets much colder

I have to agree that the EPG for Bv is bad. It is basically non existent. I really hope they can fix that, even if to just get an hour or 2. I have read that others have had success with the EPG for Dn but i still am unable to get any more than 2 hours and the info disappears often if i do not periodically sit on 200 for a bit. To its defense, i haven't really tested it enough to see if I can get more. I've read you may need to have a flash plugged installed in order to get the EPG to work well for Dn but i seem to have issues when I have a flash plugged in. I get black screen a lot, I assume i am loosing connection to servers, and the only way to get pic back is to reboot. When i do not have a flash drive in the box, the black screen showing up after channel changes is far less frequent.

Also i find if I try channels that are not up, like for instance, I often check and surf threw the HD PPv's to see if any are testable and when they are not, when i now go to a channel that I know is up, I will get black screen. If I reboot, all is good. Restarting the Cobra-cam will not work.

Okay, i have done a little more testing and my PW Pro works way better without a flash drive plugged into it. With a drive plugged in, i can not change channels. It goes black every time but the Cobra-cam does work now to bring in the channel. But i must restart for every channel change. If i don't have a flash plugged in, i seem to have no issues changing channels.

Also I left the drive plugged in for a while and I still could not get any more than an hour or two on the Dn guide. I have no idea how some are gettin the 2 and 3 days worth of EPG info. Maybe that is only on the IPTV version where I only have the Pro version.

So I hope a new file is coming out soon to address the EPG issue. I noticed there was a pattern of 1 every week coming out but there was not one released this week yet so hopefully there is one coming soon!!!

ok here is a new one and I had to go check this out for myself

my buddy is on 2.6 and it has been running flawless from what I have seen and he has told me on 5 sats. the box started doing something different today. you can punch a channel in on the remote and regardless of what channel it is you get an error message that it failed to go to that channel

he checked the antenna setup and all sats are still showing signal and quality so I decided to pop in for coffee and a looksee for myself. sure enough, just as he reported but here is the weird things. the last button will still navigate you between 2 channels and if you go to the epg and scroll the channels you can select any channel that way as well. you can also do direct entry of channel number from the epg but it will not change channels with direct channel entry while viewing a channel without being in epg

actually it was his own channel list he reloaded, I suggested he factory default and re-scan but the football game over rides that at the moment :)

I have had this message randomly appear quite frequantly , the easy way to fix this is to hit FAV button than hit red button and all the channels will come back . My pro overnight will do that same thing , its almost if someone may have hit the fav button and than left it . dunno why this happens . one other thing that is a pain is if you have a flash drive in the front and you have server info plugged in the unit and the unit is on and remove it . you may get a lock up only to find your server info screen and all info is gone ! and the colored buttons have no text beside them ...

iused the triple lnbf , it has a internal switch . i played with 119-A 110-B 129-C .i put the power inserter on LNB port 1 , receiver 1 on port 2 , receiver 2 on port 3 and used the fourth port that is LNB "IN" for 118.7 from a 39" dish 118 Special LNB. then by adjusting transponders , lnb type , input(ABCD1234) i was able to have what sat im tuning show up at top right expl; 119 etc.

I understand quite well what testing is. What you don't understand is that I spent days trying different combinations (including what you're saying worked for you) with my buddy's mini using DP Plus lnb's and a DPP44 switch and it does not work. I am not the only experienced tester having these issues. Glad your combo worked for you, but your set up is not mine.

What channel is everyone using for BEV (82) to get EPG guide to populate at all? I know there are some problems with it. Looking for the channel on bird 82.

I dont think there is one on 82, it all populates from 91 if I remember right

I can't change my channels now with the remote up and down buttons. I have to highlight in the epg and guess whats on when i'm on bev then press the button to go to that channel. I can't be on channel then just press up and also I can't input a number it says something like invalid channel or something. this box is digging a very fast hole for me.

Try hitting the favourite button then red button (between music & fav). My guess is you have created a favourite list accidentally of one channel..These receivers are awesome and your problem would seem to be user error

There is no guide for North it was mentioned in the release they made the other day they are working on it
