View Full Version : Random occurrences of "bad or no signal"

My neighbor just got the T5 and is reporting that he often gets "bad or no signal" on some channels, but if he changes the channel up and back down it sometimes resolves the issue.

He tested the same setup with his Dreamlink HD without any signal errors.

Could it be something with the box/module? (Note:It happens on both HD and SD channels)

Edit: He has tried loading the latest bin and factory resetting but the issue persisted.

the t4 does it as well. usually a channel change fixes it for a bit

that error message usually means LNB is starving for power

always worked fine on the receiver i replaced the t4 for. this problem has been reported more than once.

He tried a hard reboot. Also hard rebooted after loading the bin and factory resetting.

so you agree?

I believe this issue is related to the lnb power produced by the box. I had this error randomly as well. I switched the LNB power in the settings from "ON" to "18v", and that seems to have solved the issue for me.

can't do that with legacy lnb's

What type(s) of LNB(s) or switch(s) do you have?

The +18 volts will run most DP LNBs just fine, unless it's the D1000 LNB.(3 satellites on 1 LNB)

Some (not all) FTA receivers will not run more then 2 LNB's (at the same time) without power supply problems, it may take some time for this to show up.

Also a realy long run of coax (60 feet or more) from the LNB(s) to the receiver can be a problem if it's the cheap coax with the copper plated steel center conductor.

Switch: Centauri 4x1 diseqc
3 Standard Non-DPP LNBs

The setup ran flawlessly on a Dreamlink HD, but when switched with the T5 is when the signal problems started occurring.

nope. i have three receivers running off 2 dishes. 1 dish has 2 lnb's (110, 119 and 129) running to 2 receivers (jynxbox and dreamlink hd). the other dish has 2 lnb's (110 & 119) only going to 1 receiver (dreamlink t4) t4 is the one that loses signal once in a while. it worked fine with the nano premium. i dont think its lnb issue.

no it is probably the fact that the dreamlink power supply is not as rock solid as the nano was

yeah, he said its a power issue and i said it worked fine on another receiver. that tells me its the receiver not a power issue. anyways, i know better than to argue with you bud. i know when im out matched.

so you think the lnb has it's own power?lol

plutonium. they require 100 gigawatts minimum.

I have the same problem and I think its the receiver because my other receiver works fine hopefully dreamlink will come out with a fix for it other than that I really like the t5 great picture nice small box easy to set up and fast sat scan

not sure what it was but back in the day 9500 hd did that with the (sk200) so put (sk900) was working good

then tried (sk200) in the dreamlink when it first came out all worked good (no bad or no signal) anymore

are all dreamlink t5 doing this with sk200 or just some ?

I don't mean to be hijacking threads, or posting in the wrong section, but I have the same problem when I switched from a nanosat to a kbox pro... the nano worked fine, yet the kbox shows the "bad or no signal" on some channels. if I shut off the power with remote or with rocker panel it sometimes fixes, sometimes not.

i can confirm i have the same issues. During night time, i get bad or no signal issue. My signal and quality drops to 50-65%. I have another box (kbox prodigy) and on that receiver, quality and signal is always 90%. In the morning though, on the t5, i get 90% signal.

Switch to dilithium crystals in warp core fusion reactor of your LNBs but don't get any dilithium in your plasma conduits... LOL

If you have a sat meter, you can use it to monitor the voltage from the receiver to the switch / LNBs. Put it in a handy place near the receiver and go watch TV. Wait for the random low signal to happen. When it does, look at the sat meter. If the voltage is low then you have found the problem. Switch channels and see if the voltage jumps back up. Simple test will help you figure this out.
