Hey there everyone,
Just went to install a dish to grab the 110/119/129 set of satellites and am having issues. I have a pretty big 42" circular dish I'm using, at first I went to install it with the magic multi lnb bracket I got with it but was having issues, so right now I'm just trying to aim with the single lnb attachment that came with the dish stock.
I'm using generic dual LNB's I got from the local FTA shop, 11250's. Using an analog satellite finder as well. I have a legit Bell box powering the sat finder and into port 1 of the LNB, port 2 of the LNB is hooked up straight to my FTA receiver.
At first I was trying to point to 129, as that's my hardest to reach sat. I went online and calculated out the aiming figures, set my elevation, then swept around the proper azimuth. I set my satellite finder to 2dB, as it says on the instruction sheet, and I can peak the signal around 5-6dB on the meter. No matter what I do I can't get it any higher. At that range I can't get any signal on my FTA box.
So then I went to find the easiest satellite, 110. Pretty easily I found the satellite, and with my signal reader I can get up to about 8-9dB, and the signal shows 98% on my FTA box. (The settings on my Linkbox FTA box are pretty typical, set to whatever sat I'm trying to aim at, and the freq is 11250). When I had it like this the "H/V" light on the finder staid lit up constantly.
Next I went back to scan for 129, without touching the dB gain knob I was able to get it again to around 5-6dB. The H/V light is randomly blinking here and there. Still no signal on my FTA box.
Getting a little frustrated at this point I went back to 110, and now I can't seem to get a signal showing on my FTA box. It's still up around 8-9dB, but the H/V light is kind of clicking off then back on again really quickly ever second or so. No settings were changed on my FTA box. Just in case the Bell receiver was interfering with something I shut it off, and still no signal.
I have a friend around the same area with the same dish who maxed out his signal to 95+% on 129, so I should be able to get a signal. Nothing at all obstructing my view of the sky.
I'm just really confused now and out of ideas, and am trying to get some help, any ideas what the problem could be?
