Regarding Video Quality

Hi.. I noticed that the video quality is 1080i under AV setup. It will not stick to 1080p when setting is saved. If i go back in the menu it is again 1080i. Is there any fix for this?

Same here!! I just realized this. I set it to 1080p and just assumed it saved but it doesn't. Good call on this. So i guess this box isn't displaying 1080p afterall??

I think what is going on is the fact that no satellite is broadcasting in 1080P, they are all 720P to the best of my knowledge and the box is probably just doing some type of video upscaling to get to 1080i. quite possible if you have a DVD rip to toss on to a thumb drive and then play it back you might see the 1080P lock in. not sure if that is the case but just tossing it out there to get some more thoughts on it

Nostradamus is right, none of the Dish or BEV satellites are broadcasting in 1080 i (or P), their boxes do an up-conversion from the 720P to that format.

The only birds transmitting in 1080i are a few of the linear birds, 125W has some of the PBS feeds in 1080i, a few others do also.

They don't have the room for the 1080i signals, they might do one or two special PPV events in 1080i but that would take up all the transponders bandwidth, and you would only have the one maybe two channels.
