I agree totaly with mram53
but as far as recivers go depends on sd or hd
sd the limesat for me is best as you can check connection to server by pressing the blue button
hd the dreamlink would be the way to go
I have many recivers and this is just my opinon
not looking for others to jump as this is just my answer to the original question
but there are other servers that connect as easy or better

My suggestion is having your friend do some reading of the various units available and how they seem to be performing. 90% (estimating) don't have connection issues so long as the server is dependable. If a unit does and it is a reliable server then something is not right with the set up and not the box however LAN ports have been known to be faulty as are wifi adapters and solder joints on a board internally. Heat issues come into play as well.

As mentioned NFPS does not seem to be one of the more stable servers to be playing with as I see reports of this changing to that and that not working but this does, etc.

The receiver does not make any server better. The source feeding the receiver is what counts such as server and your internet set up.
Don't get me wrong here as a good box that performs well is a key ingredient to the recipe so research is key before deciding on a unit and I don't mean reading 2 or 10 posts but all available info.

Yes time consuming but it pays off in the long haul.
