Most are using a regular fta receiver, a linear lnb that needs proper skewing and usually a 90cm ~ 1.2m dish and of course a server is needed.

A regular STB would do videoguard technology?

SKY Mexico on 58W (Intelsat 21) as tightened up it's North American foot print, you now need to live in Mexico, some lower parts of the Southern US, or parts of the Caribbean.

Here is a foot print on the SKY Mexico signal, you have to live close to it or in it to get anything on this bird.

Or be using a very big dish if your now outside the new foot print.

According to lyngsat the Sky service is just DVB and not DSS, so a regular FTA box should be able to lock into the signal and see some channel info, but whether the box will get the cmd07 packets in the same way as northern providers running nagra get is a much harder question. Videogard is an encryption system that pre-dates DVB satellite international standard, so they may have a different ecm/emm packet system. It is kind of being looked into in the advanced section.

asked before but never answered.
A buddy has an x2 premium receiver that will take the ota update and after that will be dead.
So the legit sky receiver must be based on the nt78326 processor and be a close cousin to the x2.
When he teases with the ITC channels I curse him with the OTA upgrade curse.
