What satellites are you currently looking at?

BEV 82/91 (Canada) or Dish 110,119 (USA)?

110/119
and maybe 129 in the future

Very little benefit to a hd receiver with only those 2 sats you are currently pointed at.

if it were me, based on your situation, I'd get the linkbox. That way if you decided to add 129 in the future, you wouldn't have to go out and get another box. Plus if SD ends up going MPEG 4, you are future proofed.

no, your current equipment is fine but you really should consider adding sat 129w to really benefit from the HD side of things

One more lnb.

If his dish setup will allow triple lnbs.. If not, he needs another dish pointed at 129...
Depending on his location too, he might need a bigger dish, or trim trees....
goodluck....
lot's of info and peeps will to help as best as we can..
