Had the NFHD working fine for years through the NOI and suddenly it stopped working. I'm getting the snow with the green Server 1 but no countdowns. I checked all of the donation status, port, ip addresses and protocols and everything is correct. Checked the firewall and it's not blocking it. What gives?

Better still.......................dump the N.O.I. and mod a Linksys router with the Goo bin and you'll never need to worry about N.O.I. again.

That looks cumbersome and complicated.

There was another NOI type program that gave more info. Is that still working?

When I use advanced settings I don't get countdown clock but I do if I use settings.

This has happened to me. Rerunning the setup wizard should fix the problem.

Checked all that. No virus, even shut down firewall to no avail. Router is working correctly as there's a Nano on the wi-fi as well and that's working.

I even reinstalled NOI to no avail. Where is the setup wizard?

It's sitting on my D: drive along with a program to check if it's set up right and working. They came bundled with the NOI package I D/L'ed. The wizard will get your networking configuration in right order on both PC and receiver. They should be in the files section somewhere.

Did the network setup wizard. Shut down the antivirus and firewall. All the tests passed. I tried pinging the stb and will not ping but it will ping to the server and everything else. What's up with that?

If it was working before and now it is not and you have not changed the software on the receiver, my guess is that your cable to the router is bad or your router may have a port that is failing. Try a new cat5 cable and switch the ports around. The cable to your computer is good because you can get to the internet. Your router is probably good too. But if you can not ping your receiver your cable is bad or the IP your receiver has is different than what you think. (check the network settings to see if your router will assign an IP address) that will verify your cable.

Ah ha. I found out the culprit. For some odd reasons, the network changed the DNS to 75.75.75.75 so I input those numbers on the stb, lo and behold, it worked.

Now the question is, why that DNS address and how did this happen?

My wizard tells me to set the DNS the same as the Gateway which is the PC's static IP.
