My cable provider is Time Warner and the Modem they provided is a Cisco 2.0 DOCSIS and it runs at 43mbps. Does the speed have anything to do with the amount of freezing that I have? Some days there’s very little and sometimes it’s not worth even watching. I was wondering if I get a faster modem if it will help a that respect (I’m thinking going to netgear 3.0 DOCSIS, 150 mbps). I’m running a converted Nano 2 for about 3 years.

no a faster modem is not going to help you. people have run IKS on dialup with no problems

I guess I should get a new receiver, but every time I start looking at forums and such I just get more confused on which ones the best to get.

Don't think freezing has anything to do with the speed of your internet, the age of your box or if getting a new box would help. It could be the aim of your dish or the quality of your iks server. The system needs for IKS are pretty small both in web speed and box functions (it is being done with dialup and old pansat 2500 boxes which are only 82 MHz clock processor with only around 40 mips throughput).

buy yourself a router that can run either DD-WRT or OPENWRT firmware, flash the router with it. IKS runs much better on a good router.

Common routers that work with it are the Linksys WRT54G and the DLink DIR 601.

You need about . 5 to . 7 mbps upload to have no freezing. If you have 43 mbps download then your upload is likely around 3 or more which is lots. Time for a new box as the old 57 chev has points and condenser the new pinwheel or dream link are all digital and much quicker to respond. The router you have is good for iks. jmo

My router is a ASUS model RT-N53 “duel band wireless-n-router” I think it’s supposed to be one of the better ones on the market.
