If you are in a position to help a person such as myself, Here is my situation!!!!!!! Im totally new to this but what i can do is follow instructions. I have been reading threads for getting up and running but where I'm confused at is the procedures to follow in order to get up and running from opening the box beginning step 1 to the end. I have my antenna all set up and ready. 1000.2 pointed at sats 110,119,129 hooking up to one receiver a link box local 8000HD.

Now I'm ready to hook up the box and before anyone suggest it, I have read the threads so much that I'm getting dizzy!!!!! Anyway, Since I'm a rookie and don't understand some of the lingo what I'm looking for is the procedures from beginning to end starting with step 1 in order through the end. Any help would be great as then i can share with the next rookie.

linkbox local HD
1000.2 pointed at 110,119,129

What files to load and order to put them in?
Do i set the box up with the instructions from the owners manual first? etc......

This is what you should do..*connect receiver to .. outlet.. and to tv.. turn it on.. with rear switchtake your remote control and go thru all menu choices.. for each category listed.. to get familiar with the receiver..*Then... do a Factory Setting(factory default) even though it is at factory settings alreadyThen do a Hard Reboot with the Rear Switch.. after it is done doing the Factory Defaultthen load the most current Factory File.. which is.. the 467.Then Factory Default again. .when done.. do a Hard Reboot with the rear switchLoad the lastest 3rd party file..*Loading Files...*You need to download and unzip/unrar the file you downloaded.. you take the uncompressed file and put it on a USB Flash Drive. that you formatted to Fat32You pull down the door on the right/front side of the receiver.. to insert the USB Flash DriveIf it does not recognize the flash drive.. .and take you to the file install screen.. Then go to*Tools.. you should have access to Upgrade By USB... (will not have access unless you have a USB Flash Drive plugged into the receiver)Highlite and hit OKUpgrade By USBUpgrade File...................... if file is not listed... arrow to the right or left until you see it*Upgrade Mode................... I always suggest All Code + Boot_codeStart.............highlight and hit OK (do not interrupt the loading of the file)Then Factory Default again.... and Hard Reboot again..*Now go into parental controls.. remove them..*Then set the timezone for your areaThen you go to Installation and over to Satellite List.. and select the satellites you want to setup..such as.. 110, 119, 129.. if your dish and lnbs get all 3 sats.. 110(echo 10/11) 119(echo 14) 129(Ciel 2) put a check mark next to each of them.. (if you are setting up all 3 sats)Then go to Antenna Setup... Select the first satellite of the ones you selected.. I tell my friends to start with 119(just do..lol) put in your settings for your lnb type and switch..and scan... then do the 110...and scan and then the 129 if you are setting it up also...and scanTo setup P$....*With tools highlited.. type in 8282 and then you should see a notice of access to hidden section... arrow to the right one time.. then arrow up Until you see Network Server highlighted.. hit OKNetwork Server.............................Make sure it is...............newcamd arrow to the right to find it if it isn'tNewcamd Client ID.........................GenericNetwork Server List.....................this will show any servers you input and saved by hitting the satellite buttonURL...................................this is where you input the Server Address of the P$Port(Multi)..............................5 digit Number the P$ gave youUser.................................User name the P$ gave you*Password...........................Password the P$ gave youKey Data...........................Enter the 28 digit number P$ gave youConnect... highlite and hit OK...*(Make Sure.... each line is exactly as given.. every letter.. every number.. and every decimal point exactly as given.. most info is done in Lower Case.. unless they specified a Capital letter)To save the info after it shows connected... hit the Sat Add List

Load the receiver with the latest factory file V467 then factory default after finished loading.
Then load latest bin V137 and factory default again after finished loading.
Hit Menu on remote arrow down to Installation press OK takes you to Sat Setup press Ok takes you to Sat List press OK.
Select the Sats you want to use on list by pressing OK a checkmark will appear beside the sat.
Hit exit and go down to Antenna Setup and press OK
You will be on Satellite hit OK and you will see the sats you selected in the step above
Select them one at a time and configure the LNB Freq and Diseqc settings
Exit out after configuring each sat and you will see a dialog box saying Saving Data then do the next sat
You'll want DishPro LNB 11250 for lnb freq and diseqc 1.0 port 1 for 119, port 2 for 110 and port 3 for 129
Exit out and go down to Single Sat Search select your sats one at a time and scan * scan 119 first, 110 second, and 129 third in that order
Some say to unhook network cable before scanning but it made no difference to me when I have scanned receiver
Exit out and go down to Tools *Enter 8282 to uncover Hidden Menu for Network Server
Arrow down and press OK then arrow over to Server 1
Server Type should be newcamd
URL is where you enter your server IP or Domain enter info by pressing OK and you will see a keyboard use red button on remote to go from caps to samll letters ***Use blue button on remote to save info after you've entered it in each category
Enter your URL, port, user, password and key data
Don't worry if you don't have enough characters to fill the key data most are 28 and there's 32 possible just start from 01 and go to 14
Newcamd Client ID should be Generic
If you've entered info correctly arrow down to Connect and press OK you should see Connecting Server Success if you don't then you've probably entered something wrong
Hit Exit and go to System Setup and set your time etc
After that go to a known working channel and you should be watching TV
*** Do not load the V138 bin it will screw up the box and put ASH on the front display then you will have to load it with a serial cable and the loader program.

not to highjack thread, but does link box local 8000HD have a built in card to receive and view hd channels?

I currently have a Ilink 9500hd, and had to install a 8psk card....
I'm looking to buy a box that does not require me to purchase and install a separate card...
thanks...

all HD receivers will need an 8psk module, no receiver should come with it installed as it is illegal for dealers to sell receivers with the 8psk module installed, that is why it is usually sold as a separate item and if a dealer is selling the receiver with module installed they are taking a big risk, nothing new and this has always been the case
