hi guys/gals,

i had some fun with the help of this forum and BIG thanks to 'Turbo Pirate' on settin up my first dish in Dec 09 to 61w. . .

since then i needed more stuff to do and a bigger challenge so i will be collecting my BUD tomorrow (10ft mesh, think its a DynaSat model)

it has a 24" dish mover and in the near future i will getting a 4DTV receiver. . .

my questions is: what LNB(s) should i use?

my location is Barbados and i keep hearing other guys talkin about G3 and W5 sats.

thanks

Depends on what your aiming for. My suggestion would be to get a c/ku lnbf or you could go with just a c band lnbf.
In my 10' setup I have a wideband corotor so I'm picking up linear ku and c band circular and linear.
As I mentioned, depends on what your aiming for.

I would suggest the Geosat CK1 lnbf. Works both ku and c band and compatible with 4dtv.

As Costa said, we true FTA testers, I am not very good with C band yet but as soon as I get my C band LNB I'll be doing some testing also.
Costa is a C band tester already, I'll be watching and reading so I learn to.
Costa just to say something I have notice in PR, guys with Bud are using a lot 621 DMS and Kul brand LNB on their BUDs. Is it a good choice also or is it out of the question? TY.

The 621 dms is a great lnbf- used it for a while until I got my 10' setup. It was a solid and competent lnbf, gave it to easily confused at talk. He has it setup on his 7.5' bud.

Are you referring to Echo 3 and 12? If you are, you'll need a circular lnb for those sats.

yes i meant them. . .

So any circular c-band lnb will work for them?

some guys here say that E3/E12 is really sensitive and if you dish moves just a bit in the wind you loose it.

is this so?

You'll need a circular lnb for those sats, not c band. Yes, ku band is much more sensitive than c band, but let's not exagerate- it would take alot of wind for you to lose signal from those huge circular sats.

Ok risk this is what costa is saying
Circular LNB is not the same as C band band is one thing circular is another.
KU Band have circular LNB or frequencies and Linear LNB or frequencies
C Band is a different world, C band if you check Lyngsat, you'll see some TP frequencies that have only 4 digits, those are C band, 5 digits are KU Band.
KU Band Linear and Circular
C Band have other combination, LNB freq for a C Band is 5150, when KU it starts at 9750 and can go up to 10750 Linear, Circular starts at 11250.

Costa, help me here, I haven't test C Band yet.

hxxp://www.skyvision.com/store/mi5000074.html but my dish has 4 arms goin to it not 3.

@ turbopirate - so yes! my lnb which i was workin with WILL work, i would just need to get/make a holder for it?

ok guys, im back here again. . .

here are the choices in front of me. . .

hxxp://www.sadoun.com/Sat/Products/S/GeosatPro-CKU-LNBF.htm

the Geosat you said can work on my 4dtv receiver plus my other fta receivers, other ppl are sayin no it cant. . .

we also have this

hxxp://www.dmsiusa.com/bsc621-2dspecs.html

which some ppl are sayin can do the same job as the geosat with others statin differently. . .they say to use a standard ku lnb for thr 4dtv receiver.

however i believe if i even use the 4dtv receiver i will be only for the c-band programming and to move the dish lol. . .

what do you guys think?

thanks

Both are great lnb's but I have no idea on the 4DTV part.Is there some limitation in the options to keep you from doing something you can do on a normal receiver? If not they should both work.

well since i have the 4dtv i wanted to put a bit of using on it before i sell it.

ppl are also sayin that the 4dtv receiver cant control the 22khv switch which
the universal ku lnb use's to change from lo to high.

so based on this, i shoudl be able to use it but i will have to stick to sats like 61w

I've never used the geosat lnbf but have heard that it is solid and will work with 4dtv. I had the bsc621 on my 6' and it was solid, only changed it because I wanted a circular feed. As much as they say it will do circular with the plate insertion, it never worked for me.
Risk, why do you care if it does 4dtv? Are you planning a subscription down the road?

lol lol. . .but once i get into it and i can pull in a few birds, well thats out the door. . .then again. . .i may just keep the darn thing for to be my dish mover/positioner
