This is just a guess as I'm not sure what you are saying, but if you are going get a sub and I'm gathering you are referring to Anik F3, why don't you ask them for second receiver as it wouldn't cost you any more. good luck

As long as your main receiver is looking at 118 all the time then it will work, but it will be on the same transponder all the time also.
The minute you go to say 110 your second receiver is going to 110.

Ok but my main receiver will only have annik signal and my other will be the fta one so are you saying the when the main receiver is on the fta one would only work in the annik signal?

What he is saying in a nut shell is the main will control the other receiver, make it easy just put up another dish!

The second receiver will only be able to watch the channels from the transponder and satellite that the main receiver is on, if the main is on 118, and it's on transponder #5 then the second receiver will only be able to watch channels on that transponder.
The transponder is what carries the channels down from the satellite.

I have more question my setup will be I'll have one dish for 110 and 119 going into my fta and then I separate dish aiming at Annik going direct into the annik receiver so with another wire I just wanted to go Annik lnb to my switch for the fta receiver

OK, you can get the special LNB for 118 that has two outputs, this will let you run two FTA receivers (each on it's own coax) off that LNB.
118 takes a special LNB to receive it, and because 118 is 1/2 the output power of 110 or 119 you need a larger dish then the one for 110/119.(18")
You can use a 24" to 33" round dish for 118, then the special LNB needed for that satellite.
An LNB like this has two outputs.
