Aspen Switch

Hello guys, I friend gave me a Aspen Eagle switch model. S-2180-CE, I was looking at it and there is a coax connection that says DC 20V (optional), here is the question, can I use it without the DC 20V? It says optional, I guess its to be use if some problem occurs right? TY and Plz.
According with this it is use if more of 150' cord is present, but what is your suggestion guys? ty

You should not have to use a power supply. You realize that you can connect on 1 lnb to the switch going out to up to 8 receivers?

As Stan stated it's nothing more than a 3x8 good for only one sat with fta...You can use it non-powered with no problems...DTV used alot of Eagle Aspen switches such as that one in the past
