Hello,

I hope this is a good place for this post. I had deactivated my ShawDirect receiver HDPVR630 a few years ago, because I found the costs too high at the time. Now I want to play in FTA hobby a while.. The elliptical dish and LNB(LNB has 4 outputs, 2 cables from LNB to my receiver) are still in place.

I have purchased and have in box:
Dreamlink T5
Invacom quad polar LNB
90CM FTA dish
SG6100 DiSEqC Monster Motor
4x1 switch

It will take me a few days to mount the motor and dish. I was looking to play in the meantime..
I still have the 2 cables from old dish/lnb coming in behind tv. Can I hook these 2 with a switch to the single lnb jack on the back of the dreamlink? Or how about just one cable at a time?

I dont know if there is even a single channel that could be received .. but think it would be fun to find out how to "scan" etc? what lbn frequency should be used here?

I have done some searching, but cant find specific answers yet. I think, at least one sat the dish is pointing at is Anik F1R. Is this correct for shawdirect?

Any comments welcome

thanks

OK, what model Invacom LNB did you get?
Is it a combo circular and linear polarization in one LNB? (Invacom QPH-031)

If so then you can scan almost all the satellites up there, and you didnt need the 4x1 switch a 2x1 would have worked just fine.

To hook this up you need to run from the receiver directly to the motor, then from the output of the motor to the switch then the LNB.

You next need to mount the motor and dish facing Due South, then set the dish elevation as described in your motors manual, next is to find your due South satellite, this is done by looking up you Longitude, the satellite closest to your Longitude is your due south satellite, this is your reference or zero satellite, you can use lyngsat to find this satellite.

Example: If your Longitude is 101 degrees, the your due South satellite would be 101W, if 90 degrees then 91W would be the correct satellite.

Here is a link to a video that will help.

Many thanks for the reply.

Yes the Invacom LNB model I purchased is the QPH-031 model. As for the 4x1 switch, it was included with the receiver already, so thats why I have a 4x1 and not a 2x1 with this setup. That being said, I bought a dozen F terminators in the order. Should i terminate the unused 2 ports on the switch? What about terminating the 2 free ports on the LNB?

What you described for connecting it all together is what I had already learned and planned to do. Thanks for the clarification on that. I had also previously watched the video you mentioned, but had lost that link.

No, don't terminate any of the unused connections on the switch or LNB.

You can seal them up with electrical tape on the switch if it's going to be outside.
