HI guys and Gals

I am trying to find a way to set up a receiver in my sons room which is on the second floor of the house without running 100 feet of cat5 or spending a fortune and was wondering if anyone can tell me a bit about these powerline adapters I get the idea that the transmitter unit plugs into the receptacle close to the router and you run a small cat5 cable to the transmitter then the receiver unit plugs in to a receptacle close to the receiver and again a short cat5 runs from the STB to the receiver unit but do you have to configure the router or is it simply plug and play

Plug and play. Some come with a diskette for startup, running 4 in my home.

If you have just 1 reciever you will need 2 per unit for the 1st reciever then any additional reciever you will need 1. The first one serves as the master....I tested with homelit at my brothers house it didnt work very good it kept dropping the connection and the adaptors would loose the ip address. I bought a pair of belkin has a transfer rate of to 256 mbs at target and it worked perfect ever since.

I have a pair of the above and was wanting to add a receiver. Do I have to buy another Vikosmo or will any powerline adapter work with the above?
