I bought a new Jynxbox V1 for my father last Christmas only to have it last about a month before it crashed and burned. http://www.satfix.net/showthread.php?126656-Another-Dead-Jynx I returned it and was given a V2 as a replacement and this unit has run quite well up until about a month ago. I personally don’t own one, as I have a VS 9000, and he knows very little, other than he loves watching his boxing and tennis programs and being that they are in HD is great for his aging 85 year old eyes. I only garner knowledge for this box from what I read here and not from actually testing, it sure isn't as simple or robust as the 9000.
The problem he says is that all the channels show no signal, even 101 won’t show. I asked what’s being displayed and he says it shows a Signal of between 25 and 42% and a Quality of 0%. Its almost like the dish had moved or the cable was damaged in some way is what I thought. I don’t live close to him so things I’ve had him try over the phone:
I had him do a factory default and got him to remove the DiSEqC switch from the equation (thinking the switch had possibly gone bad) by connecting just the 129 feed, as it was the newest, being less than a year old. (turning off the power first of course). With the DiSEqC bypassed, he still had a signal of only 25%, not wanting to give up I had him try connecting to 119 and it was no different. I then read maybe changing to an older software version might work, so I had him try ver. 1.2.33 and still no success. He gave up at this point and put everything back the way it was before the problems started.
I continued to read and the following week I wanted to see if the receiver could see the JB200 module in slot one of the menu screen. I called him up and we started in again and sure enough slot one showed the JB200 as it still does today. I had him go back to the antennae set-up and damn if we didn’t get a good S & Q reading on 110, we checked all the others and they too were solid so, I walked him through the whole process of scanning the birds and within a short time he was watching TV again.
The Jynxbox ran well until about two weeks ago when it went back to its old ways, so he cycled the receiver on and off with the remote and nothing happened. He then tried it with the rear switch, which I was somewhat hesitant in doing, after that’s what appeared to kill the first box (read post 6 in the above link). He said he shut it off and waited for about 30 seconds or better and turned it on and there was the elusive signal once again. Fast forward to last Saturday just prior to the big Pacman PPV and it failed him once again.
I’m going to visit him this weekend in hopes of finding a solution. I’ve read that the JB200 may need to be pulled from slot one and then reset back into the board possibly giving it a better connection. He’s not comfortable with that so that’s something I’ll do for him. Also going to put his old Nanosat Premium back in the mix so at least he has something in the event the Jynx heads South again IF I’m able to get it going. I did ask him if he ever noticed it running hot and he said he never really touched it. It is sitting on a shelf in an open cabinet, he did put his hand on it last weekend when I asked him, even though it wasn’t working properly but, it had been on for several hours and and was just warm to the touch. I was wondering about a possible clone but, his remote he says does say "Made in China", I will check all the other tell tale signs when I visit on the weekend for a clone.

There are two dishes, one is an 18” elliptical with 91, 110 and 119 the other is an 18” round pointing at 129.
They are all Direct style dual LNB’s, though there is only one feed from each LNB.
They are connected using RG6 cable with compression fittings through a DMS International 4x1 DiSEqC switch.
Total cable run is within the allowable limits.
I think I have covered just about all there is to tell at this point, as to what we’ve tried, anyone have any ideas as to what could possibly be going on? Thank you.
