Wireless bridge that works for T5

I want to use T5 in an area that I do not have an Ethernet cable available. I am trying to use an old USR 5430 wireless Ethernet bridge that works ok if tested on a laptop....for whatever reason would not connect to T5 (message Ethernet not connected, screen not populated with values).
Any thoughts why would not connect to USR ? or any other cheap options other then running a long cable from router? ....adapters that use electrical house wiring kind of expensive....
