View Full Version : Bought New T5's...Little Disappointed

PMP

I bought 5 T5's to replace my Nfusion Hd and so far my verdict on the picture on a top of the line LED tv's using the Nfusion HDMI cables/monster the picture is not as clear. I would describe it as a fuzziness that the Nfusion and or Blu Rays do not have. The depth of the picture with the T5 is missing. Blu Rays and Nfusion give you an almost 3D effect with depth and that is definitely not there with the T5. I'm disappointed.

Must admit I'm picky but I buy the best and expect the best and I didn't get that with the T5.

The set up was a little quirky. When I was choosing the sats to scan I would arrow up or down key to select the 119's or 110's 129's 82's 91's etc and it would scroll on its own. It got to the point where it was like a slot machine and I was hoping it would stop on the sat that I needed to scan.

I'm not trying to flame this product or start a war with members but I wish this thread existed before I bought it.

My question is: Is there a new supported HD box out there that has the quality of the Nfusion HD for sale? Or which new supported box has the best HD picture out there?

Thanks

Edit:

More I use it more I dislike it. Buggy box. Change channels sometimes volume works other times it blasts then back to low. Stay away from this thing.

Hello sir, I am wondering what file version you are on as your sat scan issues are isolated to your unit, I set up my neighbors and no scrolling at all.. I set up his box channel scan and all in less then 5 mins.. When it comes to handle quality what this unit does suffer slightly in is its SD pic quality the HD quality is the amongst the best I have seen and I own your model as well.. The best HD picture out there is in the eye of the beholder your TV also matters as well there are many factors that take into quality. Are there bugs yes of course it's a new box brother there only on there Secound file release.. A little patience and testing and this box will produce.. The original HD box was rated the beat of the new age box's.. This one will closely follow. channel changes are the fastest out there as well as he fluidly of the UI as well I have no issues with sound changes in changes as well I would advise you to check your current file and make sure you factory reset after the newer factory file and then the latest 3rd party file as well.. Happy testing sir and good luck

You may need to check settings on receiver or get a Jynx and have more problems

Wow, You got to be kidding me. I owned an nfusion HD and this box is about equal or better then. The setup is so easy a baby can do it. Only bug I encountered was the switch. Wasn't getting an of and on signal so I swapped the switch and fixed the issue other then that, box worked like a charm also that fact that no NOI needed or router to nfusion needed is a big plus. Setting up the servers was so easy.

Did you load the latest Factory then do a system recovery I know a factory bin come installed with the receiver it is probably the original Factory bin They release New Factory bins for a reason they are updated and have fixes in them that the original Factory Bin doesn't have.

I completely agree the set up was pretty easy. And yes, no noi is a plus.

I used T5_0010_0910_factory bin. Did a factory reset installed T5_0102_1028P and did a factory reset then scanned once the scrolling stopped on the right :censored::censored::censored:. dish

The first TV in my home that I've tried it on is a 8000 series Samsung 1080p 60 inch led with a clear motion rate of 1200 and a quad core processor. This is the same tv that the nfusion HD was hooked up to and there is no comparison.

I have four other boxes to set up that are going to one plasma and three more led.. I'll keep this thread going with my results

Sorry to hear that. I have owned the original Dreamlink HD for almost two years now and, for me, it is the best fta hd box out there. The T5 is supposed to be even better in quality and i have never had any single problem with the setup or with the picture quality which is awesome.

U mentioned arrow up/dwn between sats and encountered a scrolling issue...i was wondering if u tried the scan option in dish setup..red button..

I see what you're saying....

Yes, that's how I scanned. The scrolling occurred when I selected the 'Satellite' drop down window. It would continuously on its own scroll through the satellites without my input and eventually stop. Sometimes on the dish I needed if I was lucky.

Beginners luck is what I'm attributing it to. I have four more to go.

PMP,

I must agree with you. My NF HD also had better pic than this T5. I also have very good Samsung 55" LED 3-D TV less than a year old and I have to say the NF HD pic was slightly better. I have Monster HDMI cable also.

I also have intermittent scrolling problem. I am wondering if a setting would help, such as turn off timeshift. Not yet sure but that is where I would start.

I agree, that works very well.

Also someone here had said he thought the HD channels were better than SD channels by comparison. From what I've seen so far the SD channels are very sharp and the HD channels just so so, but still good.

I also must admit that I am disappointed with this box. I heard nothing but great things about before jumping in and switching from my beloved and missed SV 8K. Some of the things I dislike about it. The guide is horrible, when in guide and I press a channel, the box switches to that channel, Annoying! Sd channels are constantly stretched which never happened with the SV. The picture that everyone is raving about is good but not much better than the much older SV 8K. The reason I switched boxes was only because of the stuttering the SV 8K suffered from when watching live sports events.

I guess I will eventually get around to liking it. First impressions are negative but there is always room for improvement.

I've programmed four of the five boxes purchased so far and box two and four suffer the same ailment of the non stop scrolling. It started with picking the sats. As I scrolled through the sats to pick the one to scan the scrolling wouldn't stop. I had to time myself to release the up or down button four or five sats before the one I wanted in hopes it would stop in time for 119 say.

As it turns out the same problem exists with the guide. I'll release the up or down button while surfing the guide and it continues two or three pages on its own. Two of my four are doing this................

Buggy......

I did what was suggested and it made it worse.

Now its still doing the guide up and down and side to side by itself but in addition the remote stops working and a reboot is necessary for the remote to start working(not the batteries...tried other remotes). Had to reboot the box 5 times today alone.

More and more I'm not liking this box..............

The guy is giving me a hard time too.

Here's a reply from one of his emails:

Well all we can offer is to send the boxes for repair

So let us know what you would like to do.

We can't get warranty for all Fta receivers we sell since none of our supplies offer it, which is why we can't offer.

We will try the receivers ourselves before we send for repair to see if this happens on our tvs at the store.

What this guy doesn't realize is that I move boxes and dishes. I dropped over $1200.00 in his store on one shot and he's giving me this bs.

Bro, you need to test that box for awhile. a day don't cut it.

Hey, I like the box too, picture is awesome, but the EPG sucks, and why I can only get a hour and a half worth of guide has me stumped.

The older, DL HD has always had that issue with the guide. It's the only downfall of that receiver. However this is a T5 thread and the T5 does not have a guide issue. The older HD will never have a full working guide. The T4 and T5 do.

tubbs, for the T5 try this, when in EPG it gives the option of Dish EPG with hitting the yellow button right, then once you hit it it takes you to 239.....right?

Now just leave it on there for a few minutes, guide may not populate right away but in a minute or 2 hit the yellow button again, do this a couple of times if needed, it seems to prompt it to load the guide.

Try all that but be patient and see how it works.

Agree with the OP that the video quality on the NFHD beats all others. Unless you've seen it you can't compare. Trust me, it's much better. You want the best picture, after a provider box nothing beats NFHD so far. We keep hoping but the video quality just isn't there in the new boxes. They originally cost north of $400 but now can be picked up for around $100 I think. Just wish they'd release the source code for IKS.
