mine does the same with 4 sats 3 dishes...i have long cable runs as well...i have to switch between sats to recover signal as well..i wonder if its a pwr issue...

could be a failing switch, poor connections etc
Sounds like that to me as well..

I was just about to start a new thread when I came upon this one. So I would like to continue the dialogue.
A friend just bought a new T5. We inserted the HD module, loaded the T5 files and server info. and scanned 4 satellites, all connected to a brand new emp centauri switch on a 36" dish. (Only 3 ports are used; one is unused.) All S&Q in the upper 90s or 80s, but having similar problems as the OP: when switching from one channel with a blue bar we sometimes (not every time) get a red bar on the channel we switched to. That has happened, and is happening, on all 4 satellites.
Before we hooked up the T5, my friend was using an SV8000 without a signal or channel changing problem. His cable is very short, less than 15 feet. The T5 seems to be working very well, but this changing channel issue is a pain and a nuisance. Could a be a T5 hardware problem? We do not think it is a switch issue, since the switch works flawlessly with the SV8000.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Some but not all Diseqc switches will try and power all LNB's attached at once, so depending on the LNB and who made it will give you an idea on the DC current draw at your receivers LNB input.
Most standard LNB's (not Dish DP LNB's) will draw around 90 to 150 mA DC depending on the manufacture, so if your switch trys to power the LNB's all at once, your looking at a 270 to 450 mA DC load on the receiver.
With a long run of coax this can go higher.
With DishPro type LNB's you can go from 120 to 250 mA per LNB, or 650 mA for the 3 head LNB for 110/119/129.
It all adds up.
Using a multi switch that will run 2 or more receivers will run the LNB's all at once, if your primary receiver connected to the #1 receiver port can't handle the load you will have switching problems.(adding another receiver will not increase the DC current)
The best thing to do is to look up the DC current spec's on the LNB's and switch, add then together and see what your current load is on your system.
Also long runs of cheap coax used with a heavy DC current load, and legacy or standard LNB's can cause switching problems due to an excessive DC load and loss of DC voltage due to the long run of cheap coax.
Cheap coax has a copper plated steel center conductor, it cant supply the DC voltage on a long run, anything over 50 feet should be a pure copper center conductor type RG-6 or RG-6 quad coax.

Thanks, Terryl. We have no doubt what you are saying is correct. However, my friend's SV8000 has no problem changing channels within a satellite and among 4 satellites with the same set up. He uses only one receiver at a time, and his coax is of good quality and less than 15 feet in length. He has had no problem changing channels before today. It is only with the T5 that he is sometimes getting "bad or no signal" when changing channels. To lock in on a signal he has to go up or down on the channel button to get a blue bar and lock onto a channel. We are stumped. Maybe the T5 is either incompatible with the emp centauri switch or the T5 doesn't have the power to handle 4 sats at one time.

No, we haven't tried any other switch yet. It is too cold to mess around outside.
Thanks.
Just wondering if an online Amplifier would do anything to improve the issue.
Not familiar with Amplifiers so wondering if they need to be placed just after Diesqc or closer to receiver? Amplifier should improve the signal I guess but wondering if will draw more current and make things worst? Any thoughts?

Those inline amplifiers don't work.Dremlinks are fussy on switches they don't like cheap ones get yourself a Baff switch that will probablt solve your problems
