French artist Hupert Duprat is “contracting” insects to make Jewelry. It may sound weird, but the idea is very original, and the final product is a proud to the bugs. Caddisflies is the mane of the “artist” insect making these jewels. It’s an adolescent form of a bug that made is “cocoon” of gold leaf, gemstones and pearls, turning it into this tubular forms. These larvae made Hupert Duprat wonder how would the “cocoon”, usually made by this insects, look like if he choose the material.
Hupert is a collector from these bugs, bringing them to his studio and placing it in tanks filled with the selected materials. In this case you will find coral and lapis lazuli, turquoise, as well as sapphires, pearls, rubies, and diamonds.
