Does one need to unmount from usb ?

When you remove usb flash drive from Pinwheel front.
Does one need to unmount from usb when you have usb flash drive plugin the front like you do in a Windows p.c. computer ? If so what do you click on ?

No you don't have to but I always do a deep standby then I remove the USB Stick
