Washington, D.C. (December 26, 2013) - SatelliteGuys.us, which last week was first to post the new pricing structure for Dish subscribers, has now published what it says will be the 2014 pricing for DIRECTV customers.

DIRECTV CEO Mike White revealed last September that the satcaster would raise prices in early 2014, but the company has yet to disclose the specifics.

SatelliteGuys.us writes that, based on "multiple sources," DIRECTV will increase the monthly price of its Select package to $49.99; the price of its Entertainment package from $54.99 to $57.99; the Choice package from $64.99 to $66.99; the Xtra package from $70.99 to $73.99; the Ultimate package from $77.99 to $81.99; and the Premier package from $124.99 to $129.99.

Update: Variety reports on December 26 that DIRECTV has confirmed it will raise prices by an average of 3.7 percent, effective February 6. In an e-mail statement to the publication, the satcaster defended the hike by saying programming fees are continuing to rise. "In 2014, the programming fees we pay to the owners of these television channels will increase about 8%, but DIRECTV is adjusting the average prices our customers pay by less than half of that amount," the statement said, according to Variety.

DIRECTV also confirmed the package increases reported earlier by Satellite Guys.us.

The SatelliteGuys.us prices would not reflect any possible increases in other services, however, such as HD DVRs and premium channels.

SatelliteGuys.us, a message board favored by Dish subscribers and employees, noted last week that Dish customers started receiving e-mails notifying them of the upcoming price increase. After the forum reported the e-mails, Dish issued a statement to SatelliteGuys.us confirming the price hike, which will go into effect on February 1, 2014.

The Dish statement said customers who are now paying promotional rates will continue to be able to pay those rates during the promotional period, usually one year. However, Dish subscribers who pay "everyday package' prices will see an increase of $3-5 a month, the statement added.
