Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have already booked a date to settle the score once and for all. According to a source close to situation, the megabuck showdown between Money May and the Pacman will finally take place in September 2014 after several failed attempts to arrange the biggest match in boxing history.

According to Latino Post, Youtube Boxing channel 78Sports TV reported that the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao showdown is already a done deal. The source, who disclosed insider's information about Mayweather's upcoming fights with Robert Guerrero and Saul Canelo Alvarez before these bouts were actually announced, indicated that Money May has already agreed to terms with Pacquiao.

"Great news in the world of boxing. He [the source] is telling me that Floyd and Manny Pacquiao will be fighting in 2014 guaranteed and it's already done," the 78Sports anchor said in his 16-minute commentary on Youtube. "Everything else that you will see will be just theatrics from here on out. But the fight is already don

Finally - The Showdown of the Century

The boxing world has been clamouring for the megabuck fight over the last five to six years. Disputes over blood testing and fight-purse sharing had been the stumbling blocks to get the fight done in the past. But now, it appears that Mayweather and his camp has had a change of heart, allowing Pacquiao to emerge as enticing opponent for the undefeated American boxer.

Two weeks ago, Mayweather stressed that he won't give Pacquiao any shot at his belts primarily because of the Filipino boxing star's association with Bob Arum's Top-Rank promotions.

"We all know the Pacquiao fight, at this particular time, will never happen, and the reason why the fight won't happen is because I will never do business with Bob Arum again in life, and Pacquiao is Bob Arum's fighter," Mayweather told FightHype.com.

"Bob Arum gives Pacquiao a date, whereas Floyd Mayweather gives Floyd Mayweather his own date. I will be fighting again in May and I will be fighting again in September."

However, there are rumours circulating that Pacquiao will be fighting Mayweather as a free-agent without any backings from Top-Rank promotions. The Pacman is under contract with Top-Rank until the end of 2014, though he could be represented by MP Promotions for that specific fight alone.

On the other hand, Mayweather is expected to announce his opponent in his May 3 event in MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada. Great Britain's top welterweight Amir Khan is the favourite to take on the Grand Rapids native in his Cinco de Mayo offering, but Marcos Maidana and Pacquiao have also gained momentum in the Money May sweepstakes, following their sensational wins in their latest bouts.

Maidana is fresh from a 12-round unanimous decision upset of pound-for-pound fighter Adrien Broner, while Pacquiao peppered Brandon Rios on his way to a unanimous decision victory inNovember in Macau, China.

Great news, Aqua. Arum letting Pac lose for this event remains to be seen. Could the tax problems be the reason for this unexpected reaction from the Filipino icon? Meeting PBF criteria is a smart thing to do, this way we can soon enjoy this fight. Great news!

Mayweather exposes Pacquiao fight rumors as false

Mayweather exposes Pacquiao fight rumors as falseFloyd Mayweather Jr. says that rumors of him supposedly fighting Manny Pacquiao in September or nothing more than a lie. He has no plans in fighting Pacquiao. The rumors have also been dismissed by Pacquiao’s personal adviser Michael Koncz as being false. It would seem that some site jumped the gun and decided to come up with news of the Mayweather-Pacquiao mega fight without fact.

Pacquiao and Mayweather will likely go in different directions career-wise until either Mayweather becomes more open to working with Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank or until Pacquiao leaves Arum and goes with another promoter. I’m not holding my breath waiting for either of those things to happen. Mayweather doesn’t need to change his mind because he’s making good money fighting all the Golden Boy Promotions fighters, and Pacquiao is making a good living fighting Arum’s Top Rank fighters one after another.

“All the stories you hear about Pacquiao is a lie,” Mayweather said to Fighthype

The internal pressure from either of these guys isn’t to where it needs to be for them to make the move overcome the boundaries to make this fight happen. If they weren’t making such good money fighting the opposition they’re being matched with then they would have fought a long time ago. But financially there isn’t the need for them to get in the ring anytime soon if ever for a fight between them.

The rumors of the agreeing to fight will likely continue to popup every now and the, and it’ll likely come from the same sites that started them in the first place. Unfortunately the fight won’t happen anytime soon. Under ideal circumstances, we could see a fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather next year if Pacquiao leaves Arum. If Pacquiao re-signs with Arum this year then that’ll probably be the fatal blow to them ever facing each other. That would be unfortunate. It’s bad when you have the biggest stars in the sport choosing not to face each other, but for boxing it’s common. We never saw a prime Riddick Bowe fight Lennox Lewis or Mike Tyson. We didn’t see Roy Jones Jr. fighting guys like Gerald McClellan or Julian Jackson

Understand what the problems are with regards to this "mega-fight" everyone wants to happen: Mayweather, Dela Hoya, Arum, Konz!

Manny Pacquiao is definitely not one of the problems. Animosity amongst Mayweather, Dela Hoya, and Arum is the principal reason why this fight has not yet occurred.

My crystal balls says that there is going to be a blockbuster breaking news soon, that would cause the relationship between Pacquiao and Arum/Konz to terminate. Reason? Arum and Canadian Manager Michael Konz could face an expose of financial scandal - stealing from the 8-division champ who has (so far) entrusted them explicitly over the last 9 years. All this would involve an expose by Michael L Lodge, President and CEO, VisionQwest Resource Group, Inc., - the firm Pacquiao hired in 2005 to oversee his contracts, as the IRS presses an audit of the champs' sources of income in the US. Konz caused the firm's appointment as financial advisor to terminate in 2011 as the company was closed to discovering the financial anomaly. With the IRS now officially conducting an audit, Arum and Konz could be subject to scrutiny, along with VisionQuest. As the issue escalates and the financial scam exposed, Manny will terminate both scrupulous men - and will finally collaborate with Mayweather.

As for the "rumours" and "lies", read between the lines. Michael Konz, is "very vocal (against and) about it" - NOT PACQUIAO! Why? Hmmmm....yes, why would he be against it? Read the next post below.

The issue is no longer between Pacquiao and Mayweather or between Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions. It has come to a point that the “unbeaten” boxer has to contend with the entire boxing world excluding puppets.

There’s not much problem with a boxer avoiding another boxer. But for a boxer to belittle the boxer he avoids and fears, malign and mock him with a litany of unfounded accusations, and then proclaims himself to be the best on the planet, it is the height of irony and delusion combined for any fans, aficionados and media to continue believing and supporting such a boxer.

Nothing is more defined than this: Boxing will have to ever say NO to Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander, Danny Garcia or any other Mayweather “solid guys” as future opponents for Mayweather until the fight with the eight-division champion “not on his level” is made first. Floyd’s latest vulgarity using social media proves one thing: He defies and challenges YOU, the people.

Brash Mayweather wouldn’t be thinking he rules boxing if he is not getting away with his despotic impudence. He wouldn’t be treating people as fools if he does not see people acting as fools by watching and getting interested in his “cherry-picked” fights while ducking certain opponents at the same time; by worshipping the perfectly maneuvered “perfect” record, and by enjoying Mayweather ring “shows” to exhibit superb skills in safe vaudeville.

Floyd behaves poorly being convinced that all of boxing is stupid to bring him millions of dum-dum dollars using the sport and people as stupid lucrative enterprise. No wonder he can throw and dishonor the World Boxing Council’s welterweight title as easy as he spews out a chewing gum.

If Mayweather dreads being hit by an arch rival, he should be into playing chess or Hollywood action movies, not competitive boxing. And if Mayweather cannot be brave enough to face the Filipino icon, we would rather have him retired now than let him dupe boxing in perpetuity and make the biggest fool out of us all.
How can Money May be declared the Fighter of the Year when he is more of an actor and businessman in boxing than a fighter? Disgrace. His “abandonment” of the WBC belt in order to avoid a mandatory challenger should be more than a cause to disqualify him as a recipient of any sports award.

Under what sane criteria will a normal person ever think of a champion being “so good” to be declared the Fighter of the Year for 2013 or any year (past, present and future) if he continues avoiding toughest oppositions to threaten his throne, a la King Herod? A concerned Mayweather “lover” emailed this writer: “If a boxer who dodges a fellow boxer they call a coward, what do you call those who praise the coward?”

Don’t you have in your list the names of rising greats to choose from as worthy receivers of the 2013 Fighter of the Year award? Those who didn’t duck yet emerged victorious and exhibited gallantry and skill extraordinaire like Danny Garcia, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Timothy Bradley, Ruslan Provodnikov, Sergey Kovalev, Mickey Garcia, Adonis Stevenson, Gennady Golovkin or even Manny Pacquiao for having proven “experts” and history wrong by fearlessly coming back smarter and stronger from a terrible devastating knockout loss?

Very clear: It’s Pacman or never for Floyd. The “Mayweather vs. Pacquiao” is THE MATCHUP – the one most compelling NEXT “show” for the pound-for-pound “number one.”

Pardon the pundits whose opinions and pieces achieve nothing good – or nothing but build obstructions to the mega bout. We openly discourse about Mayweather only by virtue and in light of Pacman as his mandatory and compulsory succeeding opponent, without putting into the picture other “solid guys” lined up for Mayweather by Mayweather.

Try doing that simple step and the popularly clamored, long-overdue event in boxing is certain to be realized soon. Or if not, Floyd will be constrained to hang up his gloves which in turn would validate the “duck and scare” issue to be true without an iota of doubt – to greatly affect his legacy as aptly suggested by ESPN’s Dan Rafael.

But if Mayweather retires under such circumstance, at least boxing is healed of one lingering illness and finally relieved of the “impossible dream” that creates chaos and divisiveness. At least boxing is freed from a “star” that robs the limelight from true warriors in the sport like Andre Ward and those earlier mentioned.
The choice obviously has narrowed down between People Power and Herod Power.

What can a “Floyd Mayweather Jr.” do but comport himself to be man enough who overcomes his frights by finally dancing with Pacquiao if all sectors in boxing are UNITED and DETERMINED to do what’s right for Floyd, healthy for the sport and beneficial for the people?

There is hope, though, as long as Christmas is CHRISTmas everyday. And it behooves the pound-for-pound superstars to initiate the talk. It is up to Mayweather or Pacquiao to grab the phone and set a meeting between their respective teams as soon as possible, sans Bob Arum.

But while we say no to every prospective opponent for Mayweather except Pacman, boxing will have to likewise say no to Bradley or any other probable challengers for the Arum cash cow until all means are exhausted to produce the “Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.” Or, upon having exhausted reason during formal talks, timid Floyd would insist on his habit of ducking.

Pacquiao would be better off without Arum and he’d be wise to leave Top Rank in favor of another or his own promotional outfit but not Golden Boy or Mayweather Promotions when his contract with Top Rank ends in the coming year. Though, Floyd’s date with Manny under Arum in May 2014 stands tough and strong. No delays.

Top Rank has a role to play in the said grand event production, but with Golden Boy and Mayweather Promotions as prime movers. “Big Boss” Bob has no reason to be unyielding to “reason-required” terms because, otherwise, his hubris this time may spell doom to his promotional outfit.

In what manner can Mayweather be acceptably accorded the “Fighter of the Year” honor from the year he started shying away from solidly genuine contests up to the year he refuses to fight a boxer he ridicules and whom the world longs to see him fight? None whatsoever.

So simple to end all these controversies and debates: Compel them to fight.

To Floyd “believers”: Instead of defending him in vain, why not just do your best convincing your boy to come to grips with his unfounded fear? You cannot gauge a boxer just by looking at him superficially. Dig deep down and you’ll be in a better position to see the real stuff. A soldier who loses courage loses all battles though he may win some. Like it or not, Manny Pacquiao serves to be the ultimate measuring stick for the pampered, extremely flattered “champion.”

This is no hating Mayweather, just loving truth more than him.
I mean truth, not “facts.”
Happy New Year!

Floyd Mayweather: Shrewd or Cowardly for Nixing Possibility of Pacquiao Fight?

By Paul Magno 8 hours ago

COMMENTARY | Let's face it, it's hard to dive into the Mayweather-Pacquiao fiasco without being accused of favoring one side or the other.

Both fan bases are so rabidly loyal to their guy that anything resembling reasonable debate is all but impossible at this point. Even among the media, supposedly impartial journalists have chosen sides and allow their own personal opinions to influence allegedly neutral news reports and/or analysis.
So, to put things as directly as possible, fans are not likely to ever get a completely unbiased account of the Pacquiao-Mayweather situation. They will probably never get a completely accurate report of what has been done by both sides to kill boxing's richest fight. Even when one side acts in a completely reasonable manner, expect the other side to complain bitterly.
Pacquiao people will point to the fact that Manny has publicly stated his desire to face Mayweather and, at least, on the surface, has eventually come along on Mayweather's initial demands for random blood testing.
Mayweather people will point to the fact that this bout was signed, sealed, and nearly delivered before Pacquiao's refusal to commit to true random blood testing led to Team Pacquiao walking away. Since then, stories of Pacquiao's willingness to compromise were floated out to the press, but never actually during any real, face-to-face negotiations.
Whatever the case, both fighters have since moved on and Mayweather, whether one likes the man or not, has simply moved ahead of his Filipino rival. In terms of money generation and recent ring resume, Mayweather has far surpassed the fighter who was his neck-to-neck nemesis for several years.
So, as the undisputed top dog, Mayweather has chosen to flex his muscles and insist that all bouts, even against his closest money rival, be on his terms and his terms only.
"The only way he's getting the fight with me is if he signs with Mayweather Promotions," Mayweather told (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/boxing/floyd-mayweather-lays-requirements-manny-pacquiao-fight-him-150512366.html) Yahoo's Kevin Iole back in July. "He's got to give me fights with Mayweather Promotions. If he don't give me no fights under Mayweather Promotions, then he's not getting the fight. That's how it is working now, because the ball is in my court."
Just as in any other business, the No. 1 doesn't come to the No. 2, hat in hands, to plead for a cooperation deal. If Coke passes Pepsi in sales by a wide margin, one would never expect to see Coke make a deal that would facilitate Pepsi's return to prominence. If, instead of Mayweather, Pacquiao was the one riding high, would we see Top Rank bending over backwards to bring Mayweather back to the top without wanting some major concessions?
In Mayweather's case, those concessions seem to be that Top Rank, former promoter and now hated rival, be left out of the business equation. Mayweather essentially wants to employ the same in-house deal Top Rank has insisted upon for all of its recent bouts involving Pacquiao. It's the perfect no-lose situation for those strong enough to insist upon it. Mayweather, obviously, feels like he's powerful enough to swing this type of deal now.
With Pacquiao's promotional deal with Top Rank expiring at the end of 2014, this power play is certainly not beyond the realm of possibility. If Team Pacquiao wants Mayweather as much as they say, then there's no reason not to consider giving Mayweather some future fight options in exchange for a legacy-defining fight and Pacquiao's biggest payday, by far.
The critics may label this attempted power play by Mayweather as cowardly or devious, but, in reality, it's only good business and, as we all know, the five-division world champ prides himself on being the pound-for-pound king of shrewd boxing businessmen.

I have been saying this all along:

By Lou Ramon Aguila | January 10, 2014 3:22 PM EST

Manny Pacquiao might have put himself back in the upper echelon of the boxing world. But his financial standings remain in limbo because of what appears to be a chaos in his cam

Pacquiao, who is coming off a 12-round unanimous decision win over Brandon Rios on Nov. 12, has been embroiled with dilemma as of late, largely because of his tax issues both in the Philippines and the U.S.

In a recent interview with Fight Hype, Pacman's Legal Representative Frank Gacal surprisingly put the blame on the boxer's adviser Michael Koncz, whom he accused of hiding Pacquiao's contract with Top-Rank.

"The current contract [between Top Rank and Pacquiao] was never shown to me. Mike hid it from me. He did not show the contract to me. He did not inform me. I told Mike, 'You know that it is for the best interest of Manny that no contract should be signed for the moment because apparently that is what Floyd [Mayweather] wants or his condition," Gacal told Fight Hype.

Pacman's lawyer also believed that Koncz should also be held accountable for failing to settle the Filipino boxer's tax issues, stressing the adviser should have hired necessary personnel to get the job done.

"Well, it appears there is really a problem. The IRS is claiming there is a tax deficiency. If there were some mistakes, it was Mike's fault. Why did it happen? They were supposed to have hired accountants."

"At the end of the year, after the filing of the tax returns, all problems should have been solved. If the US still has claims, there should be problems with recording and everything. So this is the point man's fault and that is Mike," Gacal added.

Gacal then dropped a big bomb to close the interview by questioning Koncz's loyalty to the Filipino fighting congressman and exposing what seems to be a conspiracy between the adviser and Top-Rank's big boss Bob Arum.

"Mike looks up to Bob Arum when Pacquiao is done with boxing. When Pacquiao is done, who is he? So he has to maintain his good relations with Bob Arum," Gacal told Edwin Espejo of Rappler.com.

"Manny is a good man. If you show him loyalty and you really work for him, you will be rewarded. Steal from him 10 times and asked for forgiveness once, he will forgive you 11 times," he added.

Termites In Pacman Camp?

Like termites slowly eating the foundation of a house from the inside, Pacquiao is facing serious matter here with his legal representative casting a cloud of doubt on his long-time adviser.

There's no doubt that Pacquiao is one of the most humble and kindest figures in such a brutal sport, but sometimes Pacman needs to take his furious character off the ring to squash all the detractors who have been going in and out of his house.

Pacquiao should solve this chaos inside his camp as soon as possible, or else his retirement party will come sooner than expected.

Manny Pacquiao Unloads, Calls Floyd Mayweather a Coward, Envious By Paul Magno 20 hours ago Yahoo Sports

COMMENTARY | Eight-division world champ and former pound-for-pound top fighter, Manny Pacquiao, usually has a legion of people speaking for him. From promoter Bob Arum to advisor Michael Koncz to a whole slew of other helpers and spokespeople, there's no shortage of voices at the ready when Manny wants a message delivered.

This past Thursday, however, the Filipino icon opted to deliver his message himself on the subject of arch-nemesis, Floyd Mayweather.
"[Mayweather] is just a coward, insecure and envy my accomplishments," Pacquiao told The Manila Times via DZAR Sunshine Radio. "I don't like to bite his gimmicks and I just want to understand him, although it's too much…But I'm really thankful that he always remember me in some ways."

This uncharacteristically direct attack from Pacquiao comes after several weeks of Mayweather deriding Pacquiao's qualifications for a bout and diminishing his overall accomplishments. According to various published statements, Mayweather, who has referred to Pacquiao as a "desperate dog," seems to feel that the bout should no longer be negotiated on even terms and that Pacquiao, after having suffered two losses and diminishing buy rates on pay-per-view outings, now needs to make some deep, deep concessions before being considered as a possible foe. Among those concessions seems to be that Pacquiao must leave long-time promoter and former Mayweather hype man, Bob Arum.
"All the cards are in my hand," Mayweather recently told Ben Thompson of Fighthype.com. "Pacquiao got pay-per-view number problems. Pacquiao's boss name is Rob Arum. Pacquiao owes $68 million in taxes. Pacquiao's got 5 losses. He still got Timothy Bradley problems and Marquez problems...So this guy's got all these problems and he wants Floyd Mayweather to solve them for him, huh? First he didn't need me; now he needs me."

Pacquiao, on the other hand, holds steadfast in the assertion that he has been pursuing the mega-bout in good faith all along, but that Mayweather and his team keep creating obstacles to kill the possibility of making the fight.

"Top Rank already allowed us to directly negotiate with them [Mayweather] before but they never communicated with us," Pacquiao said. "Mayweather Jr. is saying a lot of negative things against me but he doesn't like to fight.

"We will consider everything but until now, they don't like to fight. At the same time, people are saying the fight between us needs a trilogy, but how can it be possible if he's not going to fight me first."
It should be noted that, according to all published reports, there have only been two instances where Pacquiao and Mayweather were in direct contact over a proposed bout and on both of those occasions, it was Team Pacquiao that walked away.
Back in late 2009-early 2010, Team Pacquiao's unwillingness to budge on random blood testing killed the first (and only) real negotiations. Then, a direct phone call from Mayweather to Pacquiao in 2012 and a flat offer to Pacquiao of $40 million was turned down.

Along the way, Pacquiao and his team have made plenty of public statements and offered concessions on both testing and money to the media, but nothing, really, when both sides were in a position to meet, face to face.
Now, it appears that Mayweather is more than willing to close the book on this chapter of his career unless he gets the fight 100% on his own terms and Pacquiao, from what we've just seen, continues to grow frustrated and angry.
The ever-impossible mega-fight, despite having made no progress since 2009, continues to rile up fans, confuse media, and, obviously, occupy the minds of both would-be participants.

Fibs comment:
Seems to me that the Filipino Icon is desperate to solve his financial problems and is seeking by any ways to force the undefeated to give him a brake. He decided to join many fighters that seek such an oportunity, a big check can ease the pain.........jmo

Manny Pacquiao Accuses Floyd Mayweather of Ducking … Again

By David King 19 hours ago

COMMENTARY | Sometimes, it seems like Manny Pacquiao just doesn't get it.
Related Stories

For years, he's professed his desire to fight Floyd "Money" Mayweather, but he's never been truly committed to organizing the elusive, highly-anticipated super-fight boxing fans have dreamed about for years.
The most recent round of negotiations between the two rivals -- if you can even call it that -- was another round of empty talk from Pacquiao's camp. They indicated their desire to fight Floyd, but even after Money made it clear that he has no plans to ever work with Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, the Filipino congressman seems to be content politicking, trying to convince the boxing community that Mayweather is, once again, responsible for the failed parley.
"Let's forget about it for the meantime. For the last four years, negotiations for the fight have been on and off and nothing had come out," Pacquiao explained during an interview on the 'SCOOP Sa Kamayan On Air radio program,' per FightHype.com . "He's been asking for so many conditions which we have expressed intentions to abide by, like drug testing, purse split and everything. Now he wants me to separate myself from my promoter which I cannot possibly do without violating my contract."
It's a strategy Manny has used multiple times in the past even though anyone who has observed Money over the years knows public opinion isn't going to goad Mayweather into action.
Yet, he still tried.
"He really looks like he does not want to fight me, so I think there's nothing we can do about it already," Pacquiao added. "Rather than a dog running with its tail wrapped between his legs in utter show of fear, at least I look for more fights; I don't run away from them."
That's coming from the same guy who brought their first round of negotiations to an end when he
"http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=4766171"]refused to submit to Olympic style drug testing, a guy whose handler, Arum,
"http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/7433886/blame-bob-arum-no-manny-pacquiao-floyd-mayweather-fight"]used a cut as an excuse to avoid a May 2012 showdown with Mayweather, then later claimed the MGM Grand wasn't big enough for the highly-anticipated super-fight.
There's only way to make the super-fight happen, hardcore boxing fans know this already, and that is for Manny to accept all of Floyd's demands without question.
Once upon a time, Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KOs) was in a position to posture during negotiations with Mayweather (45-0-0, 26 KOs), but that is no longer the case for the Filipino statesman who went 0-2 in 2012. Regardless of Pacquiao's past accomplishments, Mayweather has significantly increased the gap between the two rivals over the past few years, so at this point in his career; Pacquiao is in the same boat as any other boxer hoping to cash in on the Floyd Mayweather sweepstakes.
If Pacquiao is truly serious about giving boxing fans the highly anticipated bout, he'll need to get in line with others like Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana.
That's how the Floyd Mayweather sweepstakes goes folks. You say yes to all of Money's demands, then you train as hard as you can, hoping to be the first to solve the most complicated puzzle in boxing's history. Failure is virtually guaranteed, but you'll at least get to walk away with the biggest payday of your life.
Given Manny's tax problems in his native Philippines and the United States, it'll be in his best interest to break away from Top Rank when his current contract expires at the end of 2014, and for the first time in his career, legitimately seek out a super-fight against Mayweather.
