By Eric Thomas: World Boxing Association super flyweight interim champion Nonito Donaire (23-1, 15 KO’s) made easy work of substitute fighter Manuel Vargas (26-5-1, 11 KO’s), taking him out in the third round tonight at the Las Vegas Hilton, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Donaire battered Vargas with shots from the opening bell, tagging him in the head and seemingly unable to miss with any of his hard shots.

In the 3rd round, Donaire connected with a hard left uppercut to the head of Vargas, sending him to the canvas. The bout was then stopped. Vargas moved up in weight to take the fight, replacing Gerson Guerrero, who likely would have been just as overmatched as Vargas ended up being.
