"(Server Can't Connect" Message).
I have three receivers - 2 at my home. One at my apartment.
They have codes for dn and BEV. I also set up a few Dreamlinks for friends - all running great.

Now here is the problem. I installed codes on buddys dreamlink and checked it all out - it runs great at my place.
He takes it home and connects but gets scrambled channels, and (Server Can't Connect Message).

I checked his internet (ethernet - looks good. same ethernet works when connected to smart tv).

The code was tried on my personal dreamlink T5. It is working on mine - so no reset needed.

Please advise if you have any solution. By the way, his provider is via fiber optics etc - so I dont know if there is any funny business there.
Something is wierd!

When you take the receiver to your buddies hook it up then reboot the modem and then the receiver it should pickup his IP then

I would manually enter your ip settings rather than use dhcp. I find getting an ip with the dreamlink is hit and miss.

In DHCP, an IP address was picked up. Is there another IP address I should enter.
All other boxes simple picked up IP and worked so I am not sure what other options are available.
Please advise.

I get (Connection OK ( ). Does not display numbers inside bracket. I tried a BEV and Dish code that are valid. Checked it at another location and Internet provider where it tested successfully. This machine was setup and tested at another location with different internet provider and worked ok. Buddy called his provider who verified that nothing is blocked. So I am looking for help to setup STATIC. I dont know much about that.

Yes. modem w/Router built in. Ran Ethernet directly.
Also tried running through a second router (not sure what I expected to accomplish duh!). IP is a fiber optic network if that helps.

i had to plug another router into one of those modems with the router built in . u tried that u say? reboot the whole system. if u can get an ip usually you can get a connection. what is the type of router that u are plugging into the modem with the router built in? i run a d-link, have had good luck with that brand.

This evening I will take my dreamlink T5 and the router that I am currently using to my buddy's house and see if I can resolve this.
I feel it is something in his mode/router causing problem.

So here is the latest.....

I took my dreamlink T5 to buddy's place and hooked up (wthout changing any settings). Result - scrambled, or blank. This is the same result as buddy had.

Using my stb, I checked Network settings were displayed DHCP and Static contains the same info, except DHCP grayed out. This was obtained automaticallyi.e: IP, Subnet mask, Gateway, DNS1 and DNS2 (populated with info).
Incidentally, Buddy's stb does the same.

I connected a my dlink router to his modem hoping to get a different result but was unsuccessful. WTF! This router works great at my home. Whe I returned hom, connected my stb the way it was - works fine there.

My conclusion is that a network setting is messing things up. Unfortunately, I lack troubleshooting skills in the networking area.
Any ideas?

I believe it is the internet provider but they claim nothing on their end. Everything open.
How do I explain that I am testing a dreamlink to get dish etc. This isp also provide tv channels etc . Hmmm CONFLICT! :)
I guess I don't know what to ask them to check.

Ping the net and see if you get a return message: From am Command prompt/admin rights if needed type in ping(space)XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX of the net you are trying to reach:
examples;
www. msn . com (no spaces but did not wish live addy)
192.168.1.4 If you get a reply net is open generally ("they" can block a return signal). Try at both locations to see if similar.

Thanks. So this will tell me if I am reaching the serversfor DN and BEV. Good idea.
I am pretty sure server did not block buddy. I am leaning toward ISP issues. Looks like budy will have to subscribe for his tv.
I tried. At least I will have no proble getting a sale for his Dreamlink T5. nice box.

I would double check and make sure your info is correct first and it depends on if your are exiting everything correctly on exit out of each section

My friend took his dreamlink to a BEV subscriber and Dreamlik works well. However the BEV subscriber uses a different internet provider.

My conclusion is "Issue with internet provider". I haven't seen too many issues regarding internet providers in the forums. I would be interested to find out if this is a more common issue. Anyhow buddy is S-O-L.

Thanks to everyone who contributed comments and advise. Cheers!
