Pinwheel HD issue --- Nothing In Server List?

Was running perfectly fine till yesterday....froze in the morning and eversince it's blank, even I tried going into my server list, there are no settings and nothing in it, it is all blank and if I click onto IPTV then it gives the message "Contact service provider".

I have Pinwheel HD.....any clue what's going on?


In About section:

I did everything. loaded 2.9 and it still is not giving any option to edit the server info. Any clue.

I have rescanned all satellites and did everything, checked internet connection through both options wireless and ethernet cable as well.

Make very sure you have an internet connection. Without an internet connection I believe you suffer the symptoms you have. Reboot your router etc. Try pushing the blue button on remote to see if it brings up anything.

Try this zimba it will work just make sure you do it exactly as stated

How to FIX your Units if no video or stuck on boot or continuous rebooting

Process to restore your unit - fix issues of no video or continuous reboots or stuck on boot etc! If you have no video coming due to PAL issues there is an easy fix!

Download any working file like 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 etc (22.33 MB)

extract the zip file and rename the udf file to

pinwheelhdfactory_fw.udf

(note: if you are displaying file extension in Windows, the file will be pinwheelhdfactory_fw.udf and if you are not displaying file extensions in Windows then file will be pinwheelhdfactory_fw)

Take 1 blank USB drive - this drive should have nothing on it, except only one file

Put the file on the root folder of the USB drive

so the USB drive will only have pinwheelhdfactory_fw.udf file

Now unplug the unit from power

Insert the USB drive into any USB port

Hold the Front Power Down and keep holding it

Plug in power to your unit

You will see UPGRD on the front display, release the front power button

This will start the process of restoring the unit

As usual will take long to erase and write

After completing it will display FINSH on the front display

Remove USB Stick and reboot the unit and it should boot into the file without any issues

setup network setting check you are successfully connected to network now exit out from menu then just push blue button on remote then ok to restart cobra cam now go to server setting you should see your server there and all option also back.

zimba- is there any chance you loaded the wrong file maybe the Pro of the Mini. Is your receiver clearly marked with the model name? Does pushing the blue button on the remote bring up the Cobra Cam box? I do not believe your receiver is blacklisted and if it was they could only lock you out of the public server.

And since yesterday, I was using 2.6 and was working fine but yesterday morning the picture froze and then blank black screen eversince.

I looked to see today what has happened and checked internet connection and it was fine, even then I reconnected it (pressing green) but still under the Server List it is all blank, no labels on green, yellow, red, blue buttons.

Shop keeper said there is no internet connection that is why it is not communicating with server, however when I took the receiver to his shop he had internet connection but the issue was same, he could not get into server list that is when he stated that it's done. Throw it away or ask original seller if he can help.

I downloaded the file 2.4 from this forum and did exactly what you said, waited for it to restore but it constantly displayed ER 1 message on receiver screen.

The Red / Green / Yellow / Blue buttons will have no options unless time is configured.

Configuring your Time
1. Up arrow to “Time” and press OK.
2. Right arrow to set your Time Zone.
3. Down arrow and set your Time Display Type to “12 Hour”.
4. Press the Green button to save.
5. Press the Green arrow again in the Message box.
6. Press exit.

Follow the entire procedure exactly.

I did try that, and message box came up for cobra cam and below that was a small check mark and I pressed ok and then went into Server List but still blank.

I am again downloading the different firmware files now trying 2.3 and 2.8 to see if they work fine, I even format the USB to make sure everything is erased on it before copying the file onto it.

It is worth mentioning that when this started happening, I was working dine for last few months with file 2.6 and nothing was changed in file or internet when all of a sudden the server list went blank with no picture.

I have just uploaded 2.8 file and now scanning channels on Anik 118 and EchoStar 119 and have updated the time to my zone too (but it stated, changes saved but unable to gather data) now I will see if PVR is off or on. Thanks for the help.

Can you send a picture of the server list screen, and explain exactly what you are trying to do. From your pictures it looks like your trying to set up IPTV which I don't believe has been mentioned. Also you should be running 3rd party file 2.9 for IPTV, not for Pro or Mini.

Okay, you need to start over.

Download the file PINWHEEL HD IPTV file 1.0 (3rd party) CLEAN PURE FREE TO AIR RECEPTION ONLY w/ NO SERVER OPTIONS!
Unzip to your USB and load it into the receiver as in the first instruction 1 to 11 in the guide.
Once its loaded and rebooted, make sure that there is no Server List option available in the drop down menu. If there is the file didn't load properly. Try doing a factory reset if this happens.

Then load the pinwheelhd_iptv-2.9.udf file into the receiver. Once it reboots, check that there is a Server List Option, if not do a factory reset and check again.

Its for wireless and probably different LNB types but use those sections as a guide to set up your configuration for wired, Sats, and LNB's.

Once you've done this you should be running again. Back up your system and server files to your usb.
I had the exact same problem because I skipped the time settings when I first did it.

But as for now I found a small USB 80211n inserted at the back of USB port of the receiver, is it something which original code provider put it when I bought both receiver and code from him?

Everything went pretty straightforward as per above instructions, however changing the time had few issues which you can see in the pictures that I took.

When I selected the time zone that corresponds to my city and attempted to save by pressing green button, I had the following message:

"Failed to receive time data. But values have been stored successfully."

Although at this point, I had successfully connected to internet even then time not not update. Although I manually changed the date and time before proceeding forward with Antenna settings and channel scanning.

After scanning satellites, I again went into to see if time is changing automatically, I pressed green button again to save and then I got the following message:

"Changing time may cause curruption to timer programs. Do you want to change time?"

Then this message came up:

"Succeed in receiving time data. And values have been stored successfully".

The USB stick in the back of the receiver is your
wireless adapter, pull it out if you are going to use wired. The messages you got in the time screen are normal. Can you please post your system information as of now. This is defiantly a software issue.

Even if there is nothing in the server list you should have a picture if you have scanned in the channels. Your receiver has public support and that does not show in the server list. Have you scanned in the channels?

I have only 101 which runs, rest does show EPG info, Green bar, red bar but not the picture. Yes, I did scan the channels with the blue button.

I loaded version 2.6 in October 2013 I guess, and everything was fine till Jan 07th-08th, 2014 when without me touching anything inside the system, the picture froze, went blank and then I checked to see server info and it was blank.

After the picture went blank, and no server info then I started putting in files 2.9, 2.8, 2.3, 2.2 etc., as members advised in the hopes to bring back the server info.

I have beaver TV and I asked them if there is any issue at their end, but their response was:

Zimba- Did you ever use the IPTV feature on your receiver? I strongly believe the problems you are having are caused by having the wrong file loaded. The wrong file will load for example, I tried loading the IPTV file on my Pro model and it loaded just fine but blanked out the buttons to load the server info. I had no problem loading the correct file after and did no damage to the receiver. If I remember correctly the 2.6 file had a glitch that caused the server info to disappear. I suggest loading the 2.9 Pro file to see if it works and failing that load the Mini file. Unless you were using the IPTV feature I don't believe you have that model.

My receiver says Mini on the bottom but I am watching Dish right now without my entering P$ info. It was sold to me as a Pro and is functioning as a Pro so we can't necessarily believe the stickers. It is also not ok to be broadcasting his Mac address.

It picks that up from the file you have loaded. You are not going to be watching TV till you have figured out what model receiver you have and loaded the correct file. What does your sticker say?

I'll look at the sticker when I go home, but since July till January I had watched IPTV channels on it. Does this tell which model it might be?

As far as I recall, it does not have any sticker, just the MAC address sticker at the bottom...how can I figure out the model if there is no sticker on it?

reading on others' posts that IPTV channels have not been working well. What channels had you been watching on IPTV. One post said that of 15 available only 2 were working.

On and off I watched IPTV channel mostly HUM TV...yes it was come and go but have watched cricket on it too on few occassions.

So I showed my receiver to local dealer here and his verdict is as follows:

1. My receiver is HD IPTV + VOD
2. MAC Address tells him that it is genuine and seller of the box is in the same city as mine (I bought it used from a friend of mine for $270 five months ago).
3. Agent is saying it's BIOS is corrupted which in his experience is not so uncommon issue, and can only be fixed by Pinwheel Compay themselves, and no other person will be able to help me. (Pretty sweeping statement...huh!)
4. He is asking me to go after my friend who has moved to another country last October and ask the name of the seller and then contact him to return the box as PINWHEEL Company will return it (as box is only five moths old) and I can get a new one from the seller if he is accomodating enough.
5. That new agent is not willing to sell me hardware (new box) as he is saying I only make money in monthly subscriptions.

Now I am in catch 22 situation, this whole thing seems to be more complex.

Does anyone one how to fix the corrupted bios of Pinwheel HD?

If it was my machine I would try loading the Pro file to see if that works. If that doesn't let you load P$ info then try the Mini file (2.9) version for all). Better to have something working (no IPTV) than nothing.

Why would u recomend someone install diferent software when box is a iptv model..?

I have contacted another dealer through ebay, he has asked me to send my receiver to him the receiver (in another city) and he will fix it for $20 plus shipping $36 ($18 each way).

I hope I do not get into it, as I have already been fooled by one of the quack dealers in one shop to pay me $25 which I did as I was hoping to get it fixed, though no success.

He was working with the file releases from back then. Did you try changing the Factory file name to pinwheelhdfactory_fw.udf and run the cold boot procedure?

I tried many versions and nothing worked. I was suspecting a corrupt file, so I decided to try V2.3, but this time I decided to get the file from another site in case the one I had was corrupted in the transfer. I then downloaded V2.3, 2,4, and 2.6 fresh. After downloading 2.3, I was able to connect by scanning for my ssid. Seeing that I then went into the server settings page, hit the green button, and it opened up. Put info in, and saved. got a picture.

I then played for a while, and decided to install 2.6, which went ok, and that file uploaded. I was still able to get into the server page, and input information. Got the channels working.

I had a similar problem with my neighbor's mini HD - The file I was using was labeled wrong and once I got the mini HD file her server infro showed up. One of those files for models other than the mini HD has NO SERVER INFORMATION and there is no way to change that without software mods- try the mini software and see what happens -

I see, so the issue is not isolated, but it happened with my receiver all of a sudden and when I had not touched the file, and when 2.6 was installed in October and all of a sudden I lost the server info in January 2014 when I had not touched anything, that is what surprised me and have made me rethink my previous decision to buy another Pinwheel HD box.

reload the 3.0 file. You will need to enter your antenna settings and re-scan. You will also need to re-enter your server info

it was happened with me finally find out something wrong with Ethernet contact the seller and he replaced without any question .1 year warranty no question asked .just contact to seller will help you out

mine did the same and i could not set up the iks link, was not able to save it anymore after it froze, what i did was that i saved the default values before actually adding the nfo. when you go in to edit, once was saved i was able to see the server info again the default one. all i had to do after was to edit the one saved with the actual one. and got network connection with the server again.. but make sure you have network connection so you can see the buttons and be able to go in --- mine was not saving the server nfo so it could be a bit different

Go into the menu and then to extreme right and I believe you find network connection. Check there as you must have a network connection before you can add any server info.
