OK I have been around FTA for a couple of years now and am happy with what I have, until I upgraded my TV. Now Standard Definition just isn't cutting it. I have done some reading and was very surprised at how easy it seems to be to upgrade to High Def. It almost seems to easy, so I figured I would just ask.

Right now I am using one of the old CNX FTA receivers that I converted in order to access the internet. I use two universal LNBs mounted on a single 18" round dish with a switch and have it pointed at 110 and 119. Everything works great. Now from what I have read if I wanted to get HD I would, of course have to upgrade my receiver (I'm thinking OpenBox) but what surprised me was that several people have said that the universal LNBs that I have been using for years will work just fine for HD. And that I can get most HD on 110 and 119, the same sats I am aimed at.

Can anyone confirm this or will I need to change my antenna? Any help, links or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect you're not using universal lnbs as that term is usually applied to a linear lnb capable of bringing in both low and high frequency signals. DN satellites use circular lnbs that work for many north american satellites. They can and do work fine for the hd transponders. There are some hd transponders on 110 and 119 but most hd signals in the western arc DN satellites are on the bird at 129 West. You'll probably need a different dish for those signals. Depending on your location in North America you might need a larger dish than 18" as well.
