OK as I have found out, there is nothing like an "Indestructible Dog toy" found anywhere in my local pet stores.
My new Dog loves to chew on things, first anything close by, (steps, kindling, plastic bottles from the recycling bin) then the car cover for the Covet, now his Dog bed.
I bought some of these so called "Indestructible Dog toys" from Pet Smart, HAH, lasted 1 night, I think this Dog is crossed with a Beaver and an Alligator, first thing he does is find the label on the toy, removes it then guts it.
Anyone know of a good product?
I'm out looking for a butcher shop that will sell me some bones, but some have said that bones are not good for the Dog, so what is?
The plastic stuffing from his Dog bed went right through him without ill effect, so what can a bone do?

The problem with animal bones is that they can splinter... especially bird bones as they are lighter & hollow... an animal can choke or the sharp edges can cut inside & they can bleed internally...I found rawhide bones will make the dog smelly... I agree kongs are great & they come in different sizes... my lab loves 'em w/peanut butter

OK I now have a ton of the "Kong" toys for him to play with, they outlast the others by several weeks......
One problem remaining, is how do I keep him from bringing fire place wood up on the back patio, he now thinks he is a Beaver....Or a Woodchuck.......I still think he is an Alligator in a Dog suit.

believe it or not chewing on logs can be bad for dogs... wood alcohol can poison them... I learned of this only when I noticed my lab/shepherd two year old started losing the hair on his face... we caught it in time... & took his logs away...

I used to own a pet store before I retired...the black kongs (not the red) are the strongest 'dog toy' you can get. Fill it with cheese wiz or peanut butter and put it in the freezer until you give it to your dog.

OK, I gave him the freezer filled with cheese wiz and he chewed it up in about a half a day to get to the toy, took 30 min to get to the cheese wiz, the toy was inside the wiz.
Now to find a way to keep him from eating wood and sawdust......And rugs.......and other things he shouldn't.

There are sprays that you can get for stopping the chewing...or try tabasco or some king of similar sauce
