Issues with my new Pinwheel HD mini

Do any of you have these issues also? I'm hoping that its' just a case of a bug that will hopefully get fixed in a new firmware release.

1) The media player has a hard time playing MP4 videos. After a minute or so it shuts down and reboots. It's pretty disappointing that a HD media player has a hard time playing HD videos.

2) All of a sudden I can't change channels except for when I'm in EPG. If I'm watching something, channel up/down does not work. Neither does punching the numbers directly. It worked for the first hour but now I can only do it from EPG. This is ridiculous.

Don't know the answer to 1 but you didn't buy this box for it's media playing capabilities but I know answer to 2). Push the favorite button on the remote, then the red button right above it. You have saved 1 channel as favorite by pushing the favorite button.

I bought it for the media playing.....and yes i too have the same problem it crashes the receiver. Were hoping for a new file maybe they can fix that too......mine is sitting in a box till they fix a few things

Put factory file in and will most likely be good

The media playing part is obviously to satisfy legality issues. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise that the primary reason anyone would buy one of these boxes is for satellite.

1) Unit doesn't work well with HDD's over 1TB. Most are using flash drives.
2)While watching a program, press the FAV button, then the RED button for ALL, then EXIT. This should solve your channel change problem.

We are still waiting for the Pinwheel team to fix all the issues with this receiver, however there hasn't been any word from them since Nov. 27, 2013.

Thanks to all regarding the channel issue. I have them back up and running fine. It's pretty odd that it was so easy to accidentally lose them there for a bit. But at lease I know now.

Yes I, too, also purchased this box for the media playing capabilities AND it's "other" capability. I realize that it's called a media player for the legal issues. I'm not absent minded regarding that part. But the seller listed all the formats that it plays and I was impressed. I can live without it, either way. At least I now know that everyone is having issues with that and maybe one day it will be corrected. By the way, I'm using a flash drive not a huge hard drive.

So now I have two new issues :(

a) when the box is on standby, the clock does not list the middle zero when the time is (for example) 6:09, 3:01, 8:09, etc. is this a commom problem as well?
b) the wifi adapter finds my ssid, but I can't connect. I plenty of other devices that are connected by wifi that work just fine. I've changed the password, I've changed the security type, i've changed the tpki to aEs. nothing works.

the seller has been very helpful but has not been able to help me with these last two issues. I think it may have been damaged in transit. what do you think?

Yup the zer o missing. For me it is no big deal as with my eyes the numbers are too small to read anyway.
After you setup your wifi try unplugging for a few seconds and then plug back in. good luck

Unbelievable about that zero! This box has too many issues. But I love it! :D

Didn't work, unfortunately. I dont' get it. It find my router every time. I just can't connect after I enter all settings and password. i tried changing it to all differnt forms of security (wep, wpa, wpa2) but no luck.

I set up a couple using the wi-fi and didn't get a picture until I did a deep standby on the receiver. (menu option).
