Marj feared her husband, Bill, wasn't hearing as well as he used to and she thought he might need a hearing aid.

Not quite sure how to approach him, she called the family Doctor to discuss the problem.

The Doctor told her there is a simple informal test the wife could perform to give the Doctor a better idea about his hearing loss.

Here's what you do,' said the Doctor, 'stand about 40 feet away from him, and in a normal conversational speaking tone see if he hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.'

That morning, the husband was is in the kitchen making breakfast, and she is in the family room. She says to herself, 'I' m about 40 feet away, let's see what happens.'

Then in a normal tone she asks, 'Bill, what's for breakfast?'

No response.

So the wife moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from her husband and repeats, 'Bill, what's for breakfast?'

Still no response.

Next she moves into the dining room where she is about 20 feet from her husband and asks, 'Bill, what's for Breakfast?'

Again she gets no response.

So, she walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. 'Bill, what's for breakfast?' Again there is no response.

So she walks right up behind him. 'Bill, what's for Breakfast?'
