MYFOXNY.COM/AP -- A small plane crashed in Monmouth County, N.J., killing five people Monday afternoon, according to officials.

Authorities recovered the bodies of three men, a teenager, and a younger child, said Capt. Tim Clayton of the Wall Township police.

SkyFoxHD was over Wall Township, where the wreckage of an aircraft could be seen strewn across the snow-covered ground near an the runway of Monmouth Executive Airport , about 35 miles east of Trenton.

The plane is a Cessna 337 Skymaster, sources said. It is a twin-engine push-pull propeller plane that can seat four to six.

Dana McNally, 39, of Wall, who said she witnessed the crash, told a newspaper reporter that it appeared the pilot was coming in for a landing and attempted to abort the landing. But something - possibly the tail of the plane - broke off.

Neptune City resident Barry Kennedy, 52, who was at the airport sledding with his son, told the Asbury Park Press that the aircraft had landed at the airport earlier, and taken off before the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
